People have been blurring the boundaries between these two GovBody types since their inceptions. I will discuss communism with you though, that I can do. I don't understand why it is hated as much as it is. It is a very simple minded thought process to me; I put in the time and effort so I should get more money. I get where that comes from and all, but we rely on so many other people and we simply don't realize it. Speaking specifically about flat-out communism and not any of the subtypes, equal wages across the board seems more than fair to me. We get lost in the importance of our position and then everyone starts insulting every job position below their own. Doctor - oh, why the fck should I get paid the same as a garbage man? Garbage man - I don't see why someone who works at Best Buy should get paid as much as me.. And it goes on and on and on. Nobody stops to smell the flowers; we never really sit down and realize everyone simply has a role to play in society, and everything balances out if everyone does their shit. People would rather be materialistic than admit they rely on loads of others. Some of the services we get are things we don't appreciate until they disappear, and trying to rank things in order of importance always comes down to opinion and "well I want a good job and a nice house and things and stuff". We get it, you want to put in work and feel rewarded. I'd feel rewarded living in a communist city that is kept running and moving by its denizens. I would be able to sit back and say "damn, look at all we've accomplished together."

OK this is something I can adress. The reason why we hate the idea of communism is quite simple. The individual gets drowned out by the collective and rights always get stomped on. Capitalism isn't perfect nothing is but you described a society where everyone works together towards a common goal. The most basic goal is not to starve and to have shelter. Capitalism is about pursuing self interests but in that voluntary transactions we get what we need and without coercion. Communism is literally at gunpoint unless you're talking about anarchocommunists but that's a utopian fantasy. The reason why communism doesn't work is because one it's done by force and two not everyone is as productive as others. I know it sounds nice but look at the Soviet Union and cuba it's horrible by desighn

A lot of shit you've read and watched is 100% propaganda, and Cubans "fleeing" from Cuba were basically the Caucasians of Cuba who could not stand to part with their cash flow. Most of my family is from Cuba and Jamaica, so I've heard the actual stories. Not trying to sound haughty or 100% right, but the Communism scare alone should be a red flag. People hate an idea because it was implemented wrongly throughout history? I get that. Communism by definition, however, does not have to be by force at all. At. All. The individual does not get drowned out by the collective if the individual is [i]part[/i] of the collective. If we all drop materialism to every degree that it is practiced it wouldn't be too hard I think. It is hard to implement such a practice in a country as large as ours simply because so many bodies voice concern for communism. They hate it blindly, as if we would literally have to have a dictator to have a communist state. Also, on a side note regarding life in Cuba.. that's the country with one of the highest life expectancies in the WORLD. Think about what that implies.

[/quote] ----materialism yes it's an issue but that issue doesn't go away simply by converting to communism. Like I said the only way to force people to comply is by a centralized force. People suffer from greed right? What makes government moraly altruistic? They suffer from the same conditions we suffer this is why in every communist society the people starved while the elites in government and the military lived like kings just like current cuba. It's never worked before why should it now? This is very common fallacy they didn't do it right but we will. Capitalism has proven to be the best system because it's all done voluntarily.
