Are Vegans being petty? (UK)
So, Vegan restaurants are now refusing to accept payments with the use of our new £5 notes because they contain the smallest trace of animal fat (tallow).
Although i do understand it, I can't help but find it petty?
The bank of England have now been pressured into changing how they make these notes to accommodate Vegans and Vegetarians but if they look identical these restaurants will still never accept them as you wouldn't be able to tell which ones are new and which ones aren't? So this all seems like an unnecessary uproar as they will never be happy.
I'm curious on all your opinions?

Do they debate who is more supremely vegan? Do these two vegan parties get caught in an infinite loop of telling each other that they are vegan? The world shudders to know the truth.

Wanting to have the note changed is going too far imo, but i don't see why they shouldn't stand by their principles of not having anything animal-derived on the premises. People would bitch at them for being hypocrites otherwise.

I can understand how they would have a problem with it because of animal rights and shit, but it is pretty damn petty. All the copies of those notes would have to be recalled and remade to accommodate them, and that seems very unnecessary and probably expensive.
