Most of us did the swords quest during TTK and spend hours.
If you want it grind for it like the rest of us.
Tip
Equip a ghost that can detect what material you want and zoom across the area with a sniper. It'll make gathering material quicker and easier.

I hate dismissive comments like this. The quest is way too laborious and needs to be "balanced." I mean, if Bungie is going to take the time to kill tripmines and finish throwing knives, the least they could do is make the sword quest as enjoyable as possible.
