First some truths about the current state of play
1) Marks are pointless at endgame
I spend them because it feels like a waste being capped, but the only thing to buy with them (since vendor stock has never rotated) is materials.
2) Glimmer is just as pointless at endgame.
Again, I spend it when capped because it feels like a waste not to but how much armor materials, etc do we really need?
3) I could spend my mats from marks and glimmer on faction rep...
But I get the same shitty weapon i don't want every time. Ranked up DO four times the other day hoping for a decent Scout...
Rocket launcher
Sniper
Sniper
Sniper
4) Smart loot sucks
See above drops. Oh and FWC gives me the -blam!-ing Wormwood 9 times out of 10
I don't use snipers, shotguns or sidearms, but apparently this game has decided it really wants me to. Desperately.
5) What's up with crucible rewards?
When RoI dropped it was raining loot in PvP. Iron Banner rains loot. Regular PvP is terrible now. Played 30 matches the other day hoping for a Hopscotch or Cryptic Dragon.
Got The Nope instead.
Got one rocket launcher and an AR. Woo hoo. Hell, in 3 months playing RoI PvP, I've never gotten a single Cryptic Dragon.
6) Factions are basically worthless after 390
Without rotating stock. With gear capped at 390. With abysmal RNG on what drops from rewards... Oh, and basically all of it looks the exact same just different skins.
So where is all this going?
It's time to bring back reforging.
Now I know that this was controversial when it originally was in the game, but after a week of debating this with people in another post, I think I have a solution to all of the problems listed above and I think everyone should find it pretty fair.
What I'm proposing is to allow us to reforge both weapons and armor, but not using the same economic system seen in HoW (which was deemed unfair in that it made it too easy to get God rolls and heavily favored players with time to invest grinding motes and glimmer).
What I would like to see is the ability to reforge our weapons for the same cost as purchasing one from a vendor. 150 marks.
This immediately makes marks relevant again (and vendor stock by default). It also allows everyone the chance to get a better roll on their favorite weapon, but it limits the number of possible rerolls a week severely compared to the old system (I rerolled my NA3D1 around 90 times to get the roll I wanted).
Yes, players will still be able to get God rolls, but right now only those fortunate to get a weapon to drop and then the right roll get to play how they want. This fix would only eliminate having to pray for the right drop, but RNG would still weigh heavily on the roll.
This would also make events that drop marks relevant again. I couldn't tell you the last time I cared about running a strike or daily/weekly PvP for marks. If I can spend them rerolling, they instantly are on my to do list each day and week.
I don't see any negatives to this system. The limits of how many marks we can realistically spend per week limits everyone rolling the same weapon and it makes a huge portion of the game that currently is pointless suddenly meaningful and gives us a reason and carrot to grind for. And you want us to grind, Bungie.
The second part of this is that we need to be able to reroll armor. I think everyone is sick of having to take off and change gear for certain endeavors because we have the wrong perks/stats on our armor.
The solution here is to allow us to use glimmer to reroll our armor perks. I don't think these costs should match weapons as we should be able to have armor we want with stats that match how we play. That said, I wouldn't make it too cheap either.
I think 2000-2500 glimmer per reroll would be a good area.
Again, it makes glimmer meaningful at endgame and it lets us wear gear we love. All win.
So what do you all think? Particularly those who didn't like the last iteration of reforging, would the built in limits by cost make this more appealing and do you agree it would give back meaning to a huge portion of the rest of the game?

37 RespuestasThe problem with making it 150 marks is that, this time it really will favor people with lots of time to invest. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the previous system... people only complained because they weren't the only ones with god rolls anymore. People in this pvp community absolutely cannot play without having a major leg up on others. That's why they wanted it taken away to begin with. I say bring back the old reforge in its entirety.
