EDIT: My first ever Trending topic! Thanks everyone!
Thanks to a couple of other users (sjf40k and IHavk) I have decided to make a post about exotic shaders, and what the three of us came up with with minimal effort and/or thought.
IHavk started of saying he thought an exotic shader that let you customise the colors would be interesting, the only problem being that it would make other shaders irrelevant.
From his idea came mine: an exotic shader that locks your appearance, effectively working as a transmog system. Equip the armor you want with the shader you want, then the exotic shader, and it locks your appearance, allowing you to equip other armor.
sjf40k came in, stating that he feels exotic shaders should be a shader plus an effect, such as flames, crackling lightning, etc.
Effects
sjf40k - Smoke
Effect: You only think you're harder to see.
Chillybean - Traveler's Light
Effect: Show off your Light.
KlutzyHat7 - Gold
Effect: Look as rich as you are.
Tries Too Hard - Radeaton
Effect: Constantly sweaty.
I firmly believe that exotic shaders would be an excellent idea to add to the game, at least for Destiny 2. What are your thoughts?
EDIT: Added section for variants of sjf40k's idea.
EDIT: Captain_Otaku233 suggested the #CommunityWishlist tag
EDIT: Revised the Effects list.

For another effect, how about
Name of Exotic Shader: On Fire Tag: "I told you to stay away from the braziers, Young Wolf." - Lord Saladin
5 RespuestasShader: Break in Time. Effects: Makes all of your movements more robotic and adds robotic sounds when moving. Landing from jumps creates a crater in the ground Appearance: Rusted with foliage hanging off, all optics (helmet optics and gun optics) turn red. Received from vault of glass. Shader Son's Bane Effects New Sword wielding animations. Secret emote, kneeling whilst stabbing your sword into the ground like Crota. Appearance Bones. Everything is bones. Sort of ghostly effect like crota. Recieved from crotas end Shader Fallen King Effects Similar to the taken shader however emits an effect in a small radius around you. The effect is similar to stepping in a taken puddle Appearance Same as Taken shader, only you constantly twitch, sometimes make a split second hologram like a taken thrall. Received Finish kings fall Shader Siva.Replicate Effects Siva wires sticking out of your armor. Appearance Siva, must I say more? Received complete Wrath of the Machine.

Nice idea!

8 RespuestasI think that functionally, the exotic shaders could operate much like Xur's engine modifications to Sparrows. You would have a "lightning effect" item, which could enhance a shader you currently own. That combination would then be retrievable via the kiosk at any time, just like the modified Sparrows. These wouldn't overwrite ornaments, since there's no reason you couldn't have the SIVA shine, AND look like you walked out of Dragonball Z. A list of effects I can think of that would fit the game universe: Solar flames Blue flames for Nightfall Arc Lightning Void effects Smoke Taken starfield effects Shimmer effects Brilliance 3.2 and the like on your character again Party Confetti that would trigger on emotes Hive runes (similar to what we see in Wretched Eye)

3 RespuestasWhat about one that emulates love? Like hearts 💕 effect around the guardian.

3 RespuestasThat's a nice idea, but I think there is a better solution regarding effects and transmog There should be 9 new slots: Primary Cosmetic Special Cosmetic Heavy Cosmetic Ghost Cosmetic Helmet Cosmetic Gloves Cosmetic Chest Cosmetic Boots Cosmetic Aura All 9 slots would contain an item similar to the no shader that can't be removed from inventory. For the 8 cosmetic slots, you could then move anything from the regular 8 slots to the cosmetics version of the inventory. You could wear any gear you wanted. Special effects like flames, smoke, etc. would be handled by the aura slot. Also, the cosmetic slots could be used to carry extra weapons. From the armor page, you could hit "RB" or "R1" to find a clone of the armor page, or the "Transmogrification" page. This is where all 9 of these slots could be found. Use the d-pad to move items between the armor tab and Transmogrification tab. As far as exotic shaders go, they should be special patterns and skins. Taken shader, gold-plated, rainbow, glow in the dark, etc.

I would LOVE the ability to lock my appearance... VoG armor ftw!!!

clan/team shader it's an Exotic shader that changes all the colors to the chosen teams colors. (I.e. Primal has a black/white and red scheme) also makes the the cloak you're wearing have a holographic effect and then the logo in the middle. Bond projects the logo and mark has the same effect as cloak.

I've seen a lot of good ideas in the comments, you should add them to your list

3 RespuestasWhat if there were shaders that changed you subclass' elemental appearance. For example, there could be a shader that made novabombs look like fire balls or lighting or have a gunslinger look like he was shooting a void golden gun. I think that would look pretty cool

I've thought of exotic shader idea b4 but couldn't think of how to make it unique. Having it add visual effects to your super or subclass(i.e light based aura) would be great. Imagine: Black Striker titan Stormtrance warlock Nightstalker hunter Blue: GG hunter Sunsinger warlock Hammer titan White: Bubble titan Bladedancer hunter Nova bomb warlock

My exotic shader; Super Saiyan 2 Aura and Lightning, blacked out armor. Disclaimer: this would look most appropriate on Stormcaller Warlocks.
-
What if they brought back their modifiers from Reach? I wanna die in confetti, at least once.
-
4 RespuestasHow about shaders that highlight your guardian abilities with different colors? Voidwalker with green instead of black in abilities? Storm caller with a red trim? Sunsinger with blue flames? Fist of panic with black lightning? Sunbreakers with green flames? White defender bubbles? White night stalker abilities? Green golden gun? Red blade dancer? I would like to see shaders that recolor abilities over anything
-
I think you might be slightly over complicating what is potentially a nice concept. I think an unusual shader with some kind of effect (or combination) to include armour texture / respawn could be nice.
-
5 RespuestasAn exotic shader that takes the base colors of whatever exotic armor piece you have on (excluding exotic class items) and applies it to the rest of your armor.
-
Bump bump bumpity bump.

This idea is clever, original and well thought out. Now stfu. You're wasting Bungo's precious time with this tripe. Don't you know they have to nerf Fusion Rifles? And you aim to distract them with this? Shame on you.
-
This would be great. Have like 3 node columns with a chroma style slot that would replace the color of the respected area of the shader, center, middle, and outer like it shows in the icon. Then 1 extra to add the elemental/lighting effects with an ornament type slot.
-
Your idea sounds like DC Universe Online. Really liked being able to use the best gear then being able to set my appearance from what I obtained in the past without changing my stats.
-
Great idea
please bungo all hunter exotic armor is ugly as hell
-
by all means NO!!! shaders should be FULLY customizable

10 RespuestasI would love to rock the VOG armour at new light levels. Best looking warlock set in the entire game.
