Skyrim Remastered or Elder Scrolls Online

Which is better? What's the difference? Which do you prefer? Which would you recommend? Which has the better experience? Which would you recommend to a beginner to the elder scroll series? Why to all these questions. Edit: Thank you, everyone, for all your input and advice. I will most likely go with Skyrim!

  • ESO is an MMO with ES trimmings. Not an ES game which is also an MMO. I think that's where a lot of folks were disappointed. TES: Skyrim is a true single player ES game. If you are looking for a great ES experience, go with Skyrim. If you want a MMO with ES like vibes, check out ESO. *whispers* Skyrim..

    • Both have lots of content, skyrim has better graphics(either version), just be aware eso's crafting system is far grindier than skyrims.

If you decide to get ESO don't make the same mistake I did. Don't go in expecting a true TES game, go in expecting a MMO with some similarities to TES. Mostly in the art, characters, and lore. There are some things I prefer ESO for. I like how spells work. Being able to cast without having to switch out a weapon slot is great for the Paladin like characters I like to play. The armour is pretty cool to. There's a unique style for each race, plus others like Daedric, Ancient Elf, Dwemer, and others. There's also like 7 armour slots, compared to Skyrims like 3 or 4. I wish Skyrim would go back to Morrowind slots, it had like 12 lol. But for a new TES player, get Skyrim. It's far better than ESO, and is the most accessible of the 3 popular TES games.

    • Elder Scrolls Online looks, plays, and feels like fecal matter, especially in comparison to Skyrim.

Skyrim is better ESO was trash sorry to any one who about to go fan boy but it was not deserved to have elder scrolls name xenomax did elder scrolls wrong It's got a ton of quests dam right. It does But you will never feel like they are meaning full what so ever They are more Tedious and boring and leveling ultimate is a grind and a half. And I gave that game 2 soled weeks of work to feel like I wasn't getting any were or doing anything worth wile it was more of a bore fest imo

Difference is: eso is ability/spell based whereas skyrim is melee/spell based. Both have about the same questing system except eso is more "do stuff in this area then move to the next" based. Which do I prefer? Skyrim personally but i do really like eso. I just cant get into like some people can. Im skipping this one as i said what do YOU want already If you want experience go with skyrim i'd say. It has more replay value and overall better story. For a beginner it depends if you've played mmorpg's and rpg's before. If no to either pick the one you havent tried yet. Both are about the same price. If no to both go with skyrim. Easier to pick up.

          • One's a mmo, another is an open world action roleplaying game. They sound similar on paper vastly different in game.

You're left with a master piece and the game that is surrounded by the concept that a franchise that always had a focus on single player gameplay would be great as a multiplayer game and only turned out to be a few notches over complete trash. Combine that with the fact that Zenimax has little to no games or experience under their belt.

Which would you recommend to a beginner to the elder scroll series? Why to all these questions.[/quote] Better is a difficult question. They are very different games. Single player rpg or mmorpg but you definitely don't need friends for ESO. I prefer the combat in ESO to skyrim. I prefer the side quests in ESO to skyrim. I like the immersion more in skyrim. Personally I'd recommend ESO because it's just got a huge awesome update and holiday event so it's very active right now. You could most likely find a discounted version. It has tons of content you can solo or you have the option to do dungeons or pvp if you want. Skyrim on the other hand will just drop from 60$ the longer you wait and mods will keep getting better and they'll update it. Best experience is a difficult one. In skyrim you can pause and save exactly where you are at which is nice. You actually affect the world in skyrim where as people in ESO just comment on your deeds as you go by. If you have never played an mmo ESO might be a little different. However it would also be a great starter. ESO is really fun and has a lot of options past just the main story and side quests. Sometimes I'll just find a populated area and duel people for a long time. Don't listen to people who says ESO does not deserve to be an ES game. The lore is there all the books and more is there. You can visit so many areas. (They look better then skyrim imo) it transitions into the elder scrolls world very well. If you've never played one you'll be good because most people who say that are people who expected skyrim online. Anyway to answer your last question the best game for a scrolls beginner would be oblivion. Hope that helps.

                • Oblivion is probably the best game to start with for a new Elder Scrolls player.

Skyrim is completely sing player, ESO is obviously not. You impact the world more in Skyrim 3. I bought ESO over Skyrim myself recently 4. Haven't played Skryim SE and only have a slight background in TES 5. For a beginner ESO may not be bad because it is definitely more MMO. However, if you want to get a single player game Skyrim would be a good start, or you could go oblivion/morrowind on PC

Really depends what your looking for. I mean skyrim is probably a better game in terms of story, world and I think there is more options or certainly more freedom in terms of builds, but it's obviously completely single player. Eso has actually stopped me from getting skyrim remastered though, just because of how much I love it. It has soo much content even if you want to play solo, but it's the group play that keeps me playing it. And the pvp is amazing, completely different to any pvp I've ever experienced! Although you'll not want to go in there untill your a decent level lol. Both games are great and either way your going to have to learn alot. But for me it's really whether your ok with always playing solo or not. I don't even play eso with friends but I just love the experience of an mmo, and grouping up with people. Eso gets vote but that completely person preference as I love group play. 👍
