It's a democracy. Things like this happen. I hope for the day when the electoral college is abolished though, there is not one single valid argument for it. Not one.
But, it's the law of the land and so he is MY president as well as all of ours. We will be ok.
I'd like the thank the blacks and latinos for not voting...........great job guys, you really showed em didn't ya?
Voting is the most sacred privilege and duty we have as americans and to see people piss it away is one of those rare things in life that absolutely enrages me.

Editado por Spatonya1398: 11/10/2016 5:59:54 PMThe electoral college will never go away. At least not in our lifetime. It's part of the constitution. In order for the electoral college system to be abolished, it would need an amendment passed by both house and Senate, and then need to be ratified by 38 (? can't quite remember) states. The smaller states would never do this because they lose all power in any type of general election.

We're not a democracy. We're a constitutional republic.
-
But it f was all based off of the popular vote than the big city's would hold far to much voting power and the smaller less populated states would be useless

The electoral college is the only thing giving us small states a chance. If anything the electors need to be split up by districts and get rid of the winner take all system

Fine. I watched it and my opinion still stands. 1. It protects the smaller states and the voice of rural areas is more pronounced 2. Prevents a majority from control or so called mob rule 3. This is a democratic republic and not a pure democracy. We elect people to make decisions for us 4. Even if abolished candidates will still focus their time in few areas 5. They use the argument of the 10 cities not holding a large control. What candidate has focused on a single city? They dont. They focus on swing states. If you take the 10 largest states by population it is well over 100 million. 6. I can only see elections like this past one ending up in recounts and bitter resentment across the country. Last I saw Clinton was only .2 percent ahead or about 300,000. She is the majority winner but she fails to represent roughly half of the country. No matter the outcome one side is still left feeling cheated Finally, calm the -blam!- down people. Trump can't and will not be able to accomplish half of what he says. Just because the Republicans control congress doesn't mean he can do whatever he wants either. Not every Republican is a right wing wack job.

I don't watch random YouTube videos

It's 4 minutes of reasonable, logical thinking from a non biased source. You have the time to read this post, so you have the time to watch a video on something real and worth learning about.

I think the election should be based on total votes.
-
If you look it up it had a purpose but that was over 200 years ago. Since the mid 19th century it became antiquated and absolutely pointless. This is the 2nd time it has happened in 16 years; where the party losing the popular vote actually wins the white house bid. To be fair, i am opposed to it no matter WHO it favors. It's wrong that a technical minority can win. If it never happened we wouldn't care but twice in 5 total elections is far too often to ignore.

Although do agreed with you that the electoral college need to be abolished...so does the superpacs.
-
Absolutely. Citizens united needs to be overturned and campaign money transparency needs implemented ASAP. It's like buying a democracy and has been for too long

A lot of blacks and latinos voted...they all just didn't voted for Hillary. Some did voted democrat, some vote republican and some just threw their vote away with the third parties. It is silly to say "blacks and latinos for not voting". Of course, based on your post history, you have a distorted views on the groups.
