Had an interesting discussion with my friend last night. And we discovered that all titans could use some improvements or changes. The titan balance right now isn't awful. It's actually rather nice. But that doesn't make it perfect. So what this thread is going to do is go over each titan and i'll briefly explain what change should be made and why. Let's jump in.
Ion: The titan is fairly well balanced. And it's energy system is cool. But it's got 2 glaring issues. Energy management. and vortex shield. Currently in order to get energy back at a reasonable rate you need to use the perk that gives you energy back based on critical hits. this massively overshadows the other choice options. And then with the vortex shield. instead of it draining energy based upon how long you hold it up it drains based on what you are blocking. Which can end up leaving tone with no offense or defense if you block the wrong thing. it's got 2 specific kit abilities that need changing as well.
What would we change? Ion would naturally get energy back from crits. and the perk would just allow you to get even more energy from crits. Vortex shield would be changed to draining energy based upon how long you hold it up. the perk that lets you do more damage with caught bullets would change to taking less energy when using the vortex shield. And lastly grand cannon instead of lasting longer would let you move around a little faster in your core. the core damage would be bumped up slightly since currently legion can survive a full duration of the core.
Next up scorch: Honestly he'd receive the least amount of changes. I would change some of his kit specific stuff. the default one would get a better description and be changed to allow your primary fire to cover more radius. It currently just adds an extra tick of damage which isn't worth it. Then to his flame shield i'd either reduce it's damage or change it so his kit perk only increased the duration of it and not the damage. Trust me when I say it does a metric ton of damage. and it shouldn't for how easy it is to use.
North star: Probably my current favorite. However she's far from in a good spot right now. Her viper thrusters don't effect the vetol ability. her trap is clunky. and her core is underwhelming.
What would change? I'd make viper thrusters effect her vtol hover. and also allow the player to cancel the hover before the duration ends. But you'd still have to sit up in the air for a period of time. that way players could still punish you for a bad hover but it's still in the player hands to use tactically. With the trap i'd add an on screen notification once it tethers someone. and remove the duration on it. It should stay on the ground till the titan is destroyed that deployed it or someone triggers/destroys it. Ultimate wise i'd grant her the ability to use her boosts in the ultimate. the boosts could either be less effective or you won't get boosts back until you land. But I feel this is fine because all other titans can boost in their core. and it would help make her core less of a death trap.
Ronin: his basic kit overall is in a really good spot. But i'd change a few of his kit abilities. for one i'd allow a player to execute doomed titans in his core. but you'd have to press the melee button to do so. currently when you doom a titan they get plenty of time to eject or nuke on you. this would prevent that. With his kit that decreases his cooldown on the phase shift i'd instead change it to giving him 2 of them.
The cooldowns would have to be tweaked but i'd make it similar to how double melee or double nade cooldowns work in destiny. that way a player could dump both at once and be super powerful. But be stuck without a phase shift for awhile. or they could be tactical about the use and always save one for emergency situations. Ronin is all about being manuverable to do damage. this would increase his surviviability which would also increase his dps. highlander should be changed to work off of dooming titans. since as I mentioned it's near impossible to kill a titan with your sword core.
Tone: his kit is fine. The fact that we can't counter his tracking is not. So i'd change it so that eletric smoke would break his tracking. i'd also remove his ability to see tracked targets through smoke as that ruins the point of smoke to begin with. Oh and i'd increase the cooldown on partical wall. 2 every 30 seconds is nonsense. especially when you run the reinforced version which is damn near impossible to pop. This would make it more of a tactical decision. Tone already has good mid range engagement and utility. this pushes tone into broken territory.
Legion: Everybody's problem with him is that he puts out too much damage. To an extent I agree. However. He's also very clunky and awkward to play with as well. So what would change? To fix the DPS issue they could either lower his base magazine or reduce his damage in general. Either would work but would really need to be tested over and over so it doesn't kill his job as a titan.
Next i'd change it so when you press Y when firing you'd actually stop firing to switch and then you can continue to fire. Currently you have to stop firing manually to switch. This forces legion to predict his situation which isn't possible in a fast paced ever changing combat arena. Adding this change would let people change reactively which would in tern let people use the short range mode more often rather than sit back and sit in long range.
Let me know what you think of these changes. If you've got any ideas of your own i'd love to hear them. Keep in mind the changes we want are supposed to keep the utility these titans posses to stay without over complicating things.

1 RespuestaThey should add critical hit spots on legions sides and back to encourage flanking. Right now his weaknesses are heavily protected by his gatling gun and the shield that goes around it so that's why it's so hard to take him down.

11 RespuestasNo. Do not nerf Flame Shield. It is glorious.

1 RespuestaI main legion and think legion's damage is alright where it is, it could use a slight decrease but not major. But I think that legion is a balanced option because he can't lay out serious damage if other titans get up close. If he doesn't have at least one other titan drawing fire then a team of two can easily destroy him. But if he does have a teammate backing him up that's when he can really do his job

1 RespuestaAs a Tone main, I say this: SHE IS BROKEN AS -blam!-. She can obliterate Titans extremely quickly with little to no effort, and her Core Ability is easily the most powerful in the game. I'd like to see a cooldown on her tracking rockets, as well was a possible reduction in the amount of rockets in the Salvo Core.

8 RespuestasTitan fall 2 is a joke So easy to spawn lock/camp Insane amount of campers even though it's supposed to be a mobile shooter Almost everyone just uses a SMG All in all Cod with giant robots Not worth $60 Maybe a free red box rental though

7 RespuestasIon- I agree. Decent Titan but in a fire fight( especially if you are fighting 2 ) it sucks when you have no shield, no laser, and no traps. Also make the traps a little harder to see. It seems like only dumb or super aggressive players ever hit them. Scorch - I think it's fine and the flame shield is a beast but I like it. It is the only Titan I have found that can actively stop those any Ronin sword spammers. Also, if you wanna try and get that close that's the other guy's fault. North Star- I generally believe something needs to be done. I know he's a sniper but he has no real defense. Ronin- I think your idea is good but I believe his gun needs a shot or 2 more and the sword needs to be on a cooldown. This spamming of the sword is noob level dogshit. If you are not in your core you should only get a swipe or 2 and then it's a short cooldown that does not effect his blocking or electric ground thing. Tone- I disagree with the shield. Once someone comes through you are basically defenseless and a legion can smoke it in one clip. Also the smoke does disrupt the lock on if he hasn't pinged you with the sonar. Also the lock on only works on Titans and ships so the rockets are useless other wise. I would like to see it lock on to line of sight enemies ( only when pinged & in direct line of sight). Legion- yeah I agree. I would like that shot selector removed in favor of a defensive trap or something. I think another way would be to reduce ammo count but increase reload time. He is definitely my most good game/ bad game Titan. I generally like your ideas though. One change I would like Titan wide is all Titans start with at least one dash. Legion and scorch not having one seems out of place. Also on a side note the sonar and map hack are kind of bullshit. It's not a big deal but it seems out of place or at least make a boost that counters those features because it ruins pilot vs pilot. Also if you cloak you should be invisible to that as well. Love the game. Almost a gen 3 already. So glad I bought it instead of COD.

2 RespuestasEverything is perfect the way it is now. I main Tone, and Northstar. Legion is just used for the first time yesterday, and he's a beast but he is vunerable to a lot in many situation. Nothing at all needs a nerf or buff, that's how you ruin the game. The new generation of gaming ....... it's hard for kids to work together.

4 RespuestasI agree with most of the replies in this thread, my biggest issue with the titans is shields, why do we need batteries ? Why not just regerating shields ?

Or did you pick a pronoun out of a hat for that? Edit: Ok then. So they DO have different voices. I guess I didn't notice.
also I always thought they had set up a sort of "rock Paper Scissors" type thing. Where 2 robots are kind of grouped and can easily take down any of the others... (Tone and Ion), (Scorch and Legion),(Ronin and northstar)... The question is...which groups can easily take down the others, and which ones are easily taken down by the others...
2 RespuestasI think tone needs a hit or everything else needs a buff. It'd be a perfectly fine, balanced titan if it actually fit with the balancing the others have. As it stands between the tracker cannon and its core it's got the upsides of a lot of other titans without any of their major downsides.

Just bought it 2 days ago finished the campaign and I'm in love with the game PVP. The connection is crispy as -blam!- really sold game types and 1v1 is hilarious. The only complaint I have is that free-for-all takes ages to find matchmaking for ya. I found my PVP fix.

4 RespuestasNorthstar is confirmed for getting buffs. The core will deal more damage in a shorter period. No word on any buffs to the rest of his kit though. I'd say Scorch is fine. You have to remember that he gets 1 dash maximum while most others get 2 or 3. His flame shield is countered by mobility, it's kinda your fault if you're close enough to start getting melted by him. Legion seems strong initially but experienced players will have no problem with him. Wait out his shield and take pot shots at him, he has absolutely no mobility. All of his damage comes from sustained fire, if you take pot shots or flank him he will not stand a chance. Tone is problematic. She is my absolute favourite Titan (G4.8/level 88) but damn she is OP. She has range, damage, mobility, health, tracking, all without downside. The ability to remove tracking someway is a good start but I'm not sure what else. I don't have enough experience with Ronin or Ion to give much of an opinion.

Slightly lower Mag for legion and slightly lower fire rate. Change the scorch execution. My only Titan complaints.

3 RespuestasDisagree with Legion, he's the bastion of TTF2, once people figure out how to counter him he can't do shit. Agree with Entangled Energy is natural, disagree with Grand Cannon.

20 RespuestasI agree with this, but as a legion main I need to stand up for my baby: yeah his dps is high, but you know what's not? His reload speed and mode switch speed, his speed in general. Setting up can be a very slow and painful process with mode switch and reloading, all while under Titan fire with no way to dash or dodge if you're out in the open (even with one dash you still feel slow, but I always run that dash because it helps a lot) yes while I feel his damage is a bit crazy, he really needs optimal positioning for it, and he has no real AOE unless he uses smart core to like on to multiple enemies so if you can surround and overwhelm him he won't be able to escape, he is very frontward offensive if that makes sense, with a gun shield and mini gun he can pretty much just push forward like a truck, but his adaptability to flanks and ganks can be... Atrocious at best lol. So maybe a small damage decrease? But after how bungie nerfs shit I'm very cautious about trusting game developers to balance games... I don't want my baby to become irrelevant because some stoned dev ruined his while damage output. Like you said, maybe if they do a lot of testing a nerf might be good

1 RespuestaEditado por lmSuperBad: 11/4/2016 4:20:35 AM#ToneMasterRace I disagree with you on Legion, he's powerful but so slow that he also become an easy target in between reloads and switching weapons, lets also not forget how impossible it is to run away from Titans in a Legion.
-
ion laser shot is what makes that titan good, that ability is borderline broken tone is the most overpowered titan
-
1 RespuestaI think Legion is fine as he is quite honestly. No one seems to know how to attack him. His purpose is to put out damage on everything in front of him, and for some reason that's also where people like to attack him. If you flank a legion, he is screwed. He's too slow and has no way to run away, and it takes forever for him to turn around and spin up the mini gun on you. Even if he does, you can either get all up in his face and uses vortex or flame shield or dash around him.
-
1 Respuesta
see tracked targets through smoke as that ruins the point of smoke to begin with
I've honestly never used smoke for that. It's either to deploy behind a titan & then punch him into it while he frantically messes up trying to get out of it or to get a rodeo off me.

1 RespuestaI think they are all pretty balanced. out of all of them... tone is the most dangerous.
