Editado por Sc4r1etBegoni4: 11/1/2016 2:40:51 PMDoS: Denial of Service DDoS: Distributed Denial of Service If people are having this happen, it's most likely a DoS attack not a DDoS attack. Instead of using dedicated servers, Destiny is peer-to-peer. This makes it rather easy to access another players IP address. DoSers then use your IP address to flood your connection with enough useless information to get you kicked from the internet.

So I assume they have to purchase some sort of equipment to do this? What a bunch of boners. I have yet to experience this i think, but i reported a full team 9f laggers that took a full amount of emperor palpatine and didnt doe till 10 seconds later.

If I had to guess, DoS attacks probably do not happen nearly as often as people think. Even less in the case of a DDoS attack. Games lag out for A LOT of different reasons. It seems like people are forgetting this ever since "DoS" gained popularity in the forums. Considering the fact that someone sending a DoS attack can get permanently banned from the game, AND run the risk of having their console bricked... yeah... probably not happening super often. It just doesn't make a lot of sense for people to go about sending a DoS attack every time a PvP match isn't going their way. The risk would greatly outweigh the benefit of doing so. (Unless maybe the DoSer makes a lot of money carrying people to the lighthouse... maybe the benefits would outweigh the risk there... IDK) Again, I'm not saying it never happens, but probably not as often as people claim.

Editado por RedDragonJedi: 11/1/2016 4:35:44 PMAbsolutely true. I've never been the type to blame connection dropouts on dos-ing. But I know for a fact that it was happening this time. There were all kinds of clues. The guy doing it was on the phone a lot with a friend (who was also in party chat) and they were being super sketchy about what they were talking about. One guy would mute himself but we could hear the other guy talking, etc. They asked me and the other guy they picked up where we were from, but not in a chill, "making conversation" kind of way. He was pulling our ips as well so he didn't ddos the wrong person. The whole experience was sketchy af

My comment was not directed at you personally. Only a general observation on the topic. I know these tactics are used by some, and I don't doubt that you experienced it. There are indeed tell-tale signs of a DoS attack and you seem to have legitimate claim.

They basically send a lot of "junk" to the opposing teams internet so they lag out
-
Basically they use the p2p connection to ping your home network with traffic so that your Internet temporarily shuts down.

I don't know the exact definition. But a DDoSer is able to kick someone out of a game doing whatever a DDoSer does to kick them out of the game.
-
These people can get others kicked?
-
No, the traffic they send to the other player's address basically causes a massive lag spike because their connection can't handle it. Getting kicked from the game is a side effect, not a definite occurence.
-
So its like hacking? Wtf people do this to win at a video game? Isnt there a bettwr way to spend your time. Jesus
-
Not like hacking
-
Ddossing is very basic. Not even comparable to "hacking".
-
Didn't say it was

Yep. Pain in the ass.
