What's a sniper?
I hate it how Bungie changes 2 things on snipers ( OP flinch,which honestly isn't that bad,and the damage reduction to the 1000 Yard,Longbow,LDR etc..) and it makes people just use shotguns! Like really? Don't get me wrong I don't mind getting shotgunned from time to time,but only getting rushed by a shotgun every 2 seconds get kind of annoying.
I don't know what Bungie should do about snipers,maybe change them back to how they were in year 1 or 2?
Just my opinion though. (I don't mind if you hate on me,just don't think of getting a response from me)

A snipe is a bird. A sniper is someone who hunts snipe.

The changes were unnecessary Especially when a low impact high RoF pulse makes you flinch

In Destiny 2, they should spend at least 2-3 seconds thinking about snipers, which is more than they have really thought about it in the past two years. The way snipers work is simply hardcore stupid. Not even so much OP as it makes them seem like profoundly unintelligent people to come up with this system. 1 - should take 50 to 100% longer to ADS 2 - any damage (even 1hp) should knock you out of ADS 3 - if not ADS, accuracy should be massively nerfed, like 500%, to the point of unreliability 4 - remove weird glowing red light they put in as a doofus attempt at balance 5 - damage can be increased (high impact sniper body shots typically OHK) Snipers should be the best in certain, let's say "special" situations but should not be your, let's say "primary" weapon all the time. As for shotguns - it should be impossible to fire a gun (or melee or really do anything) while sliding. After you get done hating me, maybe you will realize that the net effect is that "primary" weapons actually might be "primary".

I'll just carry on using whatever I feel like, which is generally either sidearm, fusion or shotgun. Tbh, shotgun is my least favourite because of the range. I can't use snipers in pvp for pudding.

I don't have to many problems with people shot gun rushing me. I just use my fusion rifle and back pedal.

Snipers rulled the crucible for quite some time now, shotguns, fusions and even sidearms are USABLE. Ive truthfully barely noticed anything with the sniper nerf. If your a good shot it shouldnt effect you much if any at all.

I think someone good with a sniper can headshot often. This makes flinch much less relevant imo. I play with people that make me mad because I expect to win a trade with a pulse and they get me so many times. I am also not a great player but seems good snipers adapted

1 RespuestaThe flinch is too much, and the damage is not rewarding enough. Bungie could of tinkered with the aim assist that way I can still get rewarded for getting a headshot. Or they could've nerfed bodyshot damage because it's stupid getting bodied, then shot with a primary Also people who say "remove aim assist!" are ignorant. It's in every console game

6 RespuestasHonestly, there has only been one sniper nerf since the game released. Conversely, 6 shotty nerfs have been implemented. Snipers won't be satisfied till shotties are completely ineffective.

I think it may be down to perception as much as the changes. Snipers require a more skilled hand to use effectively now, i.e. you can't face off with someone coming at you with a primary due to the changes in flinch like you used to, but on really it would only require a bit more practise to over come. Most people, me included, switched to HC/Sniper loadout in year 2 because that was the dominant meta. I exclusively ran TLW/1k stare until just before RoI. Like everyone else I had to practise that load out to become effective with it. Anyone could have continued with that load out after a short period of practice, performance would dip but then even out again. In reality what happened was Bungie put out the message that snipers were too effective so were being nerfed. At that point people know they will now require adjustment in play and more skill to use so start thinking of alternatives in the special slot. Snipers dry up in most game modes and maps, shotgun rises up and there is a new meta and the majority switch to it. We all knew it would happen at some point. Destiny 2 PvP will bring with it a whole new meta too. I'm sure will see at least one new meta change in RoI. Perception can be very powerful in shaping opinion.

Make primaries usuable. All primaries not just pulse rifles. That will solve most issues right now IMO

2 RespuestasThe flinch is brutal now. You pretty much have to get the jump on people or snipe them when they aren't looking at you. It's near impossible to get a headshot while being shot.

Snipers still see usage in 3v3, Clash, and Rift. People don't like sidearms due to them not being able to ohk and fusions according to the community are inconsistent(which is a lie).

30 RespuestasSnipers were op in y2. They really had no effective counters except hoping the sniper wasn't good with it. They made 2 small changes that should have been in since the beginning and everyone quits. It really shows you snipers were the definition of a crutch in y2. Good snipers still dominate in trials. Played with a guy who was like a 1.3 and constantly won 3v1s in trials all the way up to 8 wins because he used his sniper. Matador is kind of op in my eyes in comparison to every other choice of a shotgun except maybe quantiplasm.
