You know, the funny thing is, I hardly see any red-bars. But, I still experience people teleporting all over, invincible, radar not working.
Even though I'm still green bar, with just that tiny little gap at the top of the connection status bar, I experience lag like I'm a red bar. Except, I don't get "god mode", I get "god-awful mode".
99% of the matches that I've played during this Iron Banner, over half of the players had the same connection status. But, they didn't end up being the ones at the top. Usually it was the players that stayed green and had the good connection the most, who were at the top.
It just leads me to wonder, how many people are blaming losing on cheaters, red-bars, and lag-switchers, but fail to look at their connection when they're experiencing these "wonky" things in the crucible.
I almost never run into "god mode" red-bars, but due to Destiny having P2P connections and skill prioritized matchmaking, I do have a sub-par connection almost every game.
When this happens, I experience a ton of lag, and everything goes to həll in a handbasket; even though my bar is still GREEN, with just that little gap at the top. It even happens sometimes when I'm fully green.
In regular crucible, this happens every few games. I do really bad those games. In the games where my connection is green the whole time, I stomp all over the people that go yellow and red, when I'm yellow or red, I get stomped.
I just really think all this lag and wonky play has a lot more to do with the Destiny's P2P connections and the matchmaking the use causing connections to be so bad, than it does with cheaters or lag-switchers. I'm willing to bet that the are far less cheaters than people claim, it all has to do with the connections.
I think we should all be griping at Bungie about these connections and matchmaking, and demanding that they make it better, rather than about cheaters. Sure, there are cheaters out there, but I really doubt there's as many as people claim.
Have you ever watched your bar throughout an entire match? I have. I have a wired connection. I should be OK, right? Wrong! Whenever I experience wonky play, I check my connection bar, and it's usually sub-par.
There's times where I go red, and I wouldn't know what a lag-switch was if you showed it to me. Things are almost always bad for me when I'm red, though I remember once that I did good while I was red. But it wasn't my fault. I didn't go red on purpose.
TL;DR - It's Destiny's P2P and matchmaking that causes most of the lag. Cheaters are very few and far between. Next time things seem weird, look at your own connection, maybe your connection is sub-par too, just like that person you're reporting.
