YOU *******S DID IT AGAIN!!!

Back when TTK came out, one of the things that majorly pissed everyone off was how 90% of the stuff that was previously accessible to people was placed behind a paywall, only being accessible to those that owned the new expansion. It was one of the most annoying bloody things that Bungie ever did regarding this game, making it pretty much useless to those who did own the newest expansion. Now, they've gone ahead and done it again: * 9/12 Crucible playlists explicitly require the new expansion, only the crappy classic playlists are left. This effectively butchers PVP matchmaking for those without the expansion. * The Vanguard Heroic strikes are now Rise exclusive, so is the Nightfall. Those without the expansion who want to do a strike playlist will now be forced to doing either the Legacy one or the level 36 one (did anybody whatsoever do the level 36 one before RoI? It was either Heroic or nothing for me). There are barely any decent rewards for the level 36, so those without the expansion will essentially be left in the dust. Thank god Prison of Elders seems to be unaffected by this, though to be honest, it's only a matter of time before a new mode comes out and the previous one is rendered obsolete. Believe me, I'm pissed. I have a friend who didn't have the money for the expansion, and now he'll have less of a reason to play the game with me. This is one of the only things we do together anymore and we just might drift apart without it.

Having said that, they are now seen as the 'SIVA Crisis' playlist. The TTK era vanguard heroic playlist still exists as 'The Taken War' playlist, at TTK light level.

Well the game is not free to play. How do you think they pay for everything? Remember this not a monthly sub fee. They support the game through dlc.

  • Bungie is much more focused on future money than your past money. If you want them to work on things that makes you happy give them more money. The people playing on the old gen systems and old DLCs have had plenty of time. It's time for new content.
* 9/12 Crucible playlists explicitly require the new expansion, only the crappy classic playlists are left. This effectively butchers PVP matchmaking for those without the expansion.
Because the new playlist contains the new maps.
* The Vanguard Heroic strikes are now Rise exclusive, so is the Nightfall. Those without the expansion who want to do a strike playlist will now be forced to doing either the Legacy one or the level 36 one (did anybody whatsoever do the level 36 one before RoI? There are barely any decent rewards for the level 36, so those without the expansion will essentially be left in the dust.
Because Heroic Playlist has offered the highest level of difficulty and the new strikes that available. A bit challenging to run LL 350ish strikes when you're 335 and pretty disappointing to get loot you can't use because it requires a DLC you don't own. And quite frankly, I'd be pretty upset as a paying customer if non-paying customers got all the above for free. That's part of what my $30 went towards.
Thank god Prison of Elders seems to be unaffected by this, though to be honest, it's only a matter of time before a new mode comes out and the previous one is rendered obsolete.
Because there is no RoI equivalent. And yes, each iteration of Destiny renders previous irrelevant because they are interested in moving forward and not making people feel like they need to do older, over played content again to gain relevant rewards.
Believe me, I'm pissed. I have a friend who didn't have the money for the expansion, and now he'll have less of a reason to play the game with me. This is one of the only things we do together anymore and we just might drift apart without it.
He couldn't come up with $30 in 3 months? He obviously has more pressing concerns then, which means you either suck it up and find a new friend to play with, buy him the game, or game share with him if you're that concerned about you're friendship (which couldn't have been too strong to begin with if $30 is your breaking point)

    • Bungle messes up a lot of things but unfortunately I can't agree with you on this one. They maintain the game by releasing expansions and you've needed to own each one to reach the highest level/light. Going into the 3rd year and fourth expansion there is simply no reason that this should come as any sort of a surprise at this point. Hate to say it, but if your friend is having trouble coming up with $30 then perhaps Destiny shouldn't be their top priority right now.

      • All I read was "I want to play for free". Players who don't upgrade still get Xur, Gunsmith, custom matches, and also now get all the TTK crucible maps even if they didn't buy TTK. So quit yer bitchin' and save up the $30 if you want to keep playing the weekly EVENTS (heroics and nightfalls), or go play all the same stuff you already had and wasn't actually taken away.... Fun fact, every mission is still there, there's this thing called the director where you can select every single one of them.

        • People always complain about this but what they don't realize is that most multiple year Triple A titles do this. I.E. Call of Duty, etc. People complain but since the end of year 1, Bungie has stated that they wont be charging for any expansions other than the yearly ones. You guys don't realize it costs money to make games and We're paying for the upkeep of said game.

        • Come to Warframe. Its free. DLC never makes any other part of the game irrelevant. PVE balance is separated from PVP. The dev's get what gamer's want (to have fun and be really OP in PVE). You can MAKE your own social space as a clan. There's 8 man raids and 4 man general activities. There's grind, sure, but the Dev's seem to realize that if you are enjoying yourself, the grind becomes less visible.

          • Why should you play the new content without paying for it? This argument is stupid!! Of course you can't play the new content without owning it. If its a nightfall then tough if you want to play the new strikes then pay for it!!

I'm OK with being locked out of content. It will make completely dropping Destiny that much easier. The reasons why I will not purchase Rise of Iron: - I’m a pve first player. Destiny’s focus is obviously on pvp. RoI doesn’t offer enough new pve content - The sandbox team at Bungie hasn’t figured out how to balance weapons after two years - Instead of making gradual adjustments and assessing the results, whenever a weapon is overused, it is nerfed to the point of uselessness - The pvp nerfs are pushed without regard to their effect on pve - Crucible is broken and mostly a miserably frustrating experience due to the matchmaking system, lag, red bar warriors, nerfs, etc. - The rng loot system hooked me, but eventually pushed me away from the game - Rng is weighted per player account. Not all accounts are weighted the same - The loot drops are stuck in cycles on individual player accounts - Smart loot either doesn’t work or doesn’t exist - Let’s be honest, video games are a waste of time. That said, you don’t want to feel like you are wasting your time while playing. The loot system creates this feeling in game - Last, but not least, the developers allowed an entire year pass without fixing the bugged vanguard, crucible and faction package drops. This is inexcusable. The developers either couldn’t figure out the problem or didn’t care to fix it. I don’t want to start grinding for drops in year three that may not be possible on my account. Unbelievably, the Comitatus drop is still not fixed. -Edit. I forgot reskinned content presented as something new
