Fix the Crucible, Get rid of 50% loss/win and add a non-SBMM playlist.

Hi, I love PVP, but I feel there is far too much emphasis on SBMM and weapon nerfs. Now there are plenty of things wrong with SBMM and weapons, and I will get into them. But first, 50% loss/win. I am a competitive person and want nothing but absolute pure competition. But, that is impossible for a game that does not have dedicated servers, putting random players together, as well as network issues because of it being online. That being said, I feel that half of the time I'm put on a team of players that seem to believe the best tactic in a shooter is to run at a team of 6 solo buck naked with a butter knife. SBMM is supposed to put like skilled players on the same team, however that is not always the case. This is because of the 50% loss/win logic in the coding of matchmaking. BUNGIE believes the game will be funner, if the player experiences losses by being put into team of suicide bombers. This logic is completely wrong. Begin forced to lose unless you play your absolute best is no fun at all. SBMM does put you with similar-skilled, but the brackets are bigger than you think. This allows for the games when everybody can compete, to why the hell was I matched with these people? Sometimes, I get an even match, but most times it is "These people are way too MLG for me", or "I AM A GOLDEN GOD OF WAR, WHICH ALL FEAR." Now to fix the problems: Games like League of Legends and DOTA 2 have a random playlist and SBMM playlist with rankings. Having a specific playlist for skilled play helps tremendously. To do this, each player should be awarded by points through winning games and lose points for losing games. This will put people in a clear definable bracket. Conjecture: Brackets now I believe, are separated by K/D, which is not a good indicator of skill. A player who does nothing at all for the team besides snipe in the back may have a high K/D, but they rarely are the factor that decides a match. Ultimately, it comes down to the people assaulting the objective, and more than likely ultimately dying in the process. This would also support more of a win the game mentality in players instead of "My precious K/D" Side Notes: mid to low rate of fire autos and pulses need a large buff. Get rid of Bloom Primaries need to be a bit stronger in general. If a player joins a game in progress give that player a super. Spawning players should have overshield that lasts for 1-2 seconds. High impact weapons should have higher flinch Dedicated servers for PVP would also be nice for Destiny 2. Source: There was an edge magazine interview recently where the developer talks about 50% win lose. I am linking a youtuber's video talking about this, giving his opinions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHqjTaweZ0s TL;DR: Make pvp playlists separated by ranked and unranked play. Ranked play should have scoring and SBMM, unranked just random. Edit: To all those saying, should we have an unranked list without SBMM all the pro players will flock to that I say, let them. The top 1% out of the massive player base is a drop in the bucket. That doesn't take away from the fact that there would be a ranked list. Every true competitive online game (League of Legends/Dota/Overwatch/Team Fortress/ETC.) has a ranked and unranked playlist. Edit: Changed "If a player joins a game in progress give that player a full heavy." to "a super." A super would be more of a fair advantage, as the enemy team more than likely already has supers, and if they have heavy you could shut at least one down.

    • I just want dedicated servers. Im all for sbmm. Its just I hate how theres such a huge advantage with host. Too many quick ways to die to give a player such an advantage. This isnt like Halo where atleast if you get shot by someone else first you can run. Typically one shot means 2-3 quick ones to follow or that one shot kills you

        • are you aware there are plenty of people that do very little to help, but still get wins? assuming that win% determines skill is just as bad as using k/d..unless to qualiify for pvp ya had to play so many games of rumble to determine true skill and win% with k/d being a variable....the truth is,they have done about the best they can with what they have...if you arent happy there are always private matches now,or just dont play if it makes ya hurt up in there...you didnt sprinkle the salt,ya took the damn cap off and tipped it over

              • They should just get rid of crucible all together. Literally a sniper, mida multi tool, storm caller, blade dancer fest. Spawn die spawn die spawn die, that's all that happens. If you don't have a mida multi tool then what's the point of even playing?

                    • Ranked matches should be a different game mode. We also need dedicated servers, peer to peer OBVIOUSLY is not working. Having a ranked playlist would also make for interesting matches with lesser known, talented players.

                      • Few things I've seen, in particular about people complaining that they specifically are being 'nerfed' by bungie while they are having a good game, are starting to drive me nuts. I can say with almost 100% certainty that these complaints are baseless ragedumps from someone angry about losing a match. Got spawned into the enemy side's spawn area? Welcome to every objective-based game mode ever. Shit happens. Magically missed your target for no reason? You actually just missed. Latency acting up right when you encounter someone? This one I will concede a bit. We DO need dedicated servers, but any true FPS player (MW2 was notorious for the awful piggyback connections) knows how to play with everyone at yellow and red bars. Just pull the trigger. Weapons are in a good place. Shotguns are pretty much where they were year one. "Find a small room and start a massacre". Snipers are now at a solid place. Fusions could use some balancing. There are 3 (4?) That are worthwhile, but everything not in the 4bolt archetype and plan c are basically useless. Sidearms are great since the last weapons patch. Which brings me to mentality. Pissed about that blink-shotgunner that pwnd you 3 times in a row? You're probably going to go out of your way to find him and get killed. Riled up about a sniper that keeps camping a lane? You're probably going to focus on taking him down and not watch the flank. Keeping a level head and playing against the enemy TEAM is every bit important as being able to take on any individual 1v1. So get over yourself when you take a loss, and quit trying to find something to bitch about when you don't have a perfect game (or god forbid, lose a 1v1)

Bump. ToO is SUPER sweaty and IB doesn't come around enough. They should have a game mode where it's always a 6v6 game type but it changes every week and also the maps should only be on one planet. Bump and like if you think this should be a thing. TL:DR 6v6 Ranked game mode that changes game type every week and only being on one planet (not having Mars maps when it's on earth ect)

Whether it's conspiracy theories or absolute fact, if Destiny's version of SBMM actually involves the type of manipulation and handicaps players have been complaining about, then it has to be the worst thing I've ever seen implemented into any game I've ever played. This sort of SBMM is purportedly designed with the goal of achieving a 1k/d and a 50/50 win/loss ratio for all players. It supposedly involves an algorithm which is manipulating, handicapping, and toying with things such as accuracy, hit boxes, spawn locations, connections, team composition, you name it. If this is true, then I wouldn't even call this competitive gameplay; in fact, the horrendous lag that's always been a part of Destiny PVP certainly interferes with competitive gameplay all on its own. I'd say that if it exists, then SBMM, aka, "the algorithm," should be scrapped, bungie should go back to the drawing board, and get rid of any ideas of achieving these 1 k/d 50/50 win/loss type goals. They should have dedicated servers for PVP, make connection a TOP priority for any mode, and then and only then should player skill or win/loss ratio be taken into consideration, but mysterious tinkering or deliberate team composition designed to keep us all average and the same on paper should never be a factor.

                                • If they make one "SBMM disabled" playlist, it will instantly be flooded by the best players. Casuals will want nothing to do with it. Removing SBMM is an all or nothing deal.

All points have been talked into the ground, and on the eve of a new release they don't have any meaning. Short version: Implementation of an optional ranked/non-ranked pvp playlists = would-be resolution of almost every issue ever seen on this board except for connectivity. Everyone could play where they want, how they want......and progressing as far as they choose and/or abilities will take them with zero rigging. End of file. Theoretically, all weapons and sub classes could be put back to their intended parameters. I don't think Bungie would lose any of its much coveted and catered to new player crowd this way because there would still be something for everyone plus the pve enthusiasts could finally be pacified. I'd hope. I'm just sick and tired of all the newbies being propped up by the software so they can have the 1.0/ fifty-fifty. Most new players in yr 1 ever saw that.......and unless you've dug a character out of a 5,000 death hole I doubt we have any notes to compare. The changes for Rise are already made and it appears things might be moving in a positive direction, short of the optional ranked/non-ranked. Let's hope. It appears the solution offered in Rise will be greater specialization (e.g. Kostov with dozens of available builds; new artifacts offering greater advantage in certain areas while leaving you even weaker in others). We'll see how it pans out.

                                • Three things: First - sbmm had narrow skill ranges for players back in January. This meant the matches were generally very close and there wasn't a big difference in scores from top to bottom Unfortunately, the more skilled players complained about long match making times and having to play sweats all the time. As a result Bungie expanded the range of skills in each sbmm tier as a result you get get a wide range of skills in a match and they can become one-sided Second - Bungie said that the goal was to get a 50% win / lose, but I don't believe that this is due to coding. Manipulating the teams and the matchmaking to do this would be a major ball-ache In sbmm with closely matched players and randomly allocated teams will result in approx 50% win / loss. There would be no need to try to force this Finally - one of the problems with the crucible (long matchmaking times / incomplete teams) is due to a lack of players in the list. Having separate sbmm / cbmm playlists will make it worse. Now let's see what would happen to the players. High skill players would pick cbmm so they can have people to stomp on. Low skill players would pick sbmm because they would get stomped on in cbmm (there are few negative aspects to play sbmm if you are below average). Average players would have a choice; they can go into cbmm and stomped on because the good players are there but no players worse than them are playing or they can go into sbmm and have longer matchmaking times than at present because done of the average players are in cbmm matches - no good side for them

It's hard to play this game and imagine, all of a sudden, my melees don't connect. But that titan sure as hell as no problem lunging at me. It's hard to think all of a sudden, getting a kill is impossible. I play ANY multiplayer game, and I don't all of a sudden suck ass between the period of one game. Or all of a sudden become a god. This game is honestly not that good. "But it's not just about pvp" well go do another strike or something. At this rate, honestly, Destiny's playerbase has dropped so significantly. I see the same guy the next day and laugh because we have a blast fusion rifling each other. Or is that a result of skill based match making? Where I have to play the same exact people, join the same exact lobby after leaving for obvious match rigged reasons. Destiny is dying. And I just wish I could've gotten my preorder refund. Oh well.

They must have a time to kill lower than all the other weapons because of how easy they are to use Give spawning players heavy? We need to get rid of heavy not add it. Super may be fine.
