What is the Red Dwarf Project? And who is the shadowed one?

"It was a project to resurrect the dead. Silver started it after my first death. As for the Shadowed One...well, it's a long story."-X1

*X1 turns to face her and then walks over "Yep, that's it."-X1 *she takes a look at the device on the helmet and starts to examine it "Well, it looks like someone else was looking for the data as well."-X1
