Anyone defending this post simply doesn't understand what's being discussed. Triplewreck's video was very clear. Within the effective damage range (before any damage falloff) he slowly aims the reticule on the player's head, waits a second, and fires. The bullet hits the wall. He does it again, slowly aims the reticule, fires- the bullet hits, but is a body shot, even though the reticule was clearly on the player's head. He does it again, slowly aims the reticule, it misses completely. Sometimes it hits, sometimes it misses.
There's no defense for this. This means that there is simply an RNG factor built in. Two players could be engaged in a 1v1, and one player should win because he landed shots first, but RNG decided those shots should miss, giving the other player time to kill. This is just simply unfair, as it is a determining factor in a fight that is completely random and outside of a player's skill. It's great that Destiny is moving towards private matches, but the game will never be taken seriously in a competitive sense as long as RNG is determining who wins a fight.
As I said, if you're defending Bungie or this post by DeeJ, you simply don't understand the issue at hand, which is fine, but please refrain from commenting. It's not helping.

What I expect will happen with custom matches is that we will have a bunch of Russian Roulette videos. Two guardians of the same level, gun and range aiming at each other and shooting one at a time. RNG will determine who wins.

Editado por Vitamin ILL: 9/13/2016 5:40:48 PMDing ding ding we have a winner here! Seriously people grab TLW and use nothing but it for 2 days. You'll see and feel the RNG this person is talking about. You'll feel and hear that fight where you land first two round then nothing but they jump and land 4 perfect shots. I had several yesterday where I just shook my head, knowing I won that fight but actually lost. I also had a few where I was dead but somehow they missed point blank. It's truly frustrating. It's truly random and its complete bull crap. It's a crappy attempt to adjust for a weapon which by map design is the best choice. Face it the real flaw is map design. Most maps set up for a mid to short range encounter. Hand cannons by nature are the go to primary. Bungie is trying react to a design flaw in map design. Simple and fair solution is to buff everything else but as we all know buffs are few and far between.

I've had this happens too many times. Im just glad that it's not just me seeing this. Trying to do the imprecation quest is horrendous. Hand cannons are broken.
-
Either that, or it's a Bungie employee trying to shut people up and defend Bungie!

@deej please see triplewreck video. It looks like we are not talking about the same thing. Your logic holds true in real world (maybe) but RNG in FPS PvP is unreal and a put off to the players! For those blaming lag... Have ever played a lag fested crucible match? It has nothing to do with HC ghost. All bullets and super can be ghost or OP so please don't pollute this thread with nonsense. Unless you know what you are talking about and have seen triplewreck video just don't comment here.

Could it not be that everyone complaining just has shit Internet and is suffering from some form of LAG... That expression we all throw around when we get owned by another team or another player or when we merely fail miserably at something "must have been the lag".... "Fss lagging again"..... "-blam!-ing lag switchers"...... Etc...etc
-
Definitely not lag.
-
No. Lag has nothing to do with this. Lag is a different problem and don't pollute this thread with mixups!
-
Go to YouTube and check out triple wrecks video..the other player was not moving.. They were testing it out. Lag has nothing to do with it

Well said. Agree 100%. LordLanchflower

The most of the ppl in this post dont know the video Rng bullets in a fps game is a joke
-
True. Seen triples vid. Bullet clearly is aimed at targets hit box n still does not register as a hit. Nice one bungie!
-
"If you have a different opinion than we do you are wrong"
-
Eyasluna does 86 to the head. In the video it registered at 82, which means it was outside of effective range.
-
That's still not the point, in a competitive FPS you have to be rewarded for accuracy no matter what. It's inexcusable for your aim to be spot on but still miss the shot. Range should only affect damage falloff and nothing else. And just because you aren't doing full damage does not mean you aren't supposed to use the weapon at that range at all..
-
Accuracy within the effective range should be rewarded. It SHOULD be inconsistent outside of effective range. Good payers SHOULD know where thier effective range ends and should try not to engage in those scenarios. If you don't like your chosen weapon's effective range, you can choose to use a different weapon.
-
Bungee is trying to edge destiny toward a possible competitive future, and that simply cannot happen with the current system. There are not any other competitive FPS where gunfights can be lost because of RNG. It doesn't reward skill. And ghost bullets affect shotguns, pulse rifles, and even scouts. It's a poor mechanic that can cause the higher skilled player to lose a gunfight due to nothing other than luck.
-
I disagree. Highly skilled players should know and understand how this mechanic works. There is no RNG within effective range. I think the biggest problem is that bungie is not very transparent on how alot of mechanics actually work within the game leading to alot of misunderstanding and complaints.
-
"There is no RNG within effective range." That is not a true statement. Not at all. The video (what we are discussing) clearly shows that RNG occurs when a shooter is within range. If you can't get past that hurdle, then you might as well not enter the race.
-
He wasn't in effective range in the video. His weapon did 82 in the video and 86 normally within effective range.
-
How are they supposed to know how it works? There is no visable representation . It's been proven to be extremely inconsistent and even has the opposite affect at times and reward people with kills even though they were inaccurate. It's a poor mechanic that was introduced in Halo at a time and was short lived because of the reasons I have previously stated. There is a reason out of every competitive FPS out there, this is a feature not to be found in any of them. And ghost bullets have also been an occasional problem WITHIN the intended range. It's a poor mechanic.
-
Hand cannons are very consistent within effective range. Highly skilled players should practice with thier weapon and know where it is effective and where it isn't. If you're paying attention, you'll realize that handcannons are actually the best primaries in the game right now. Everyone is hunting and eyasluna or lord high fixer with rifled barrel because they deal high damage very consistently out to medium range.
