Yep, I am at that point again where what I currently do at school doesn't interest me and is quite difficult to do.
Man, this is shit. Are there any guys here who haven't had success in finding the thing they want to do? Well, I mean, I know what I want to do, but it's near impossible. Earning a living with drawing comics. Oh well.. I'll keep trying no matter what.
I currently follow Allround-DTP (desktop publishing) where you have to create logo's pamphlets etc. Just, design stuff in general. Sure, this sounded like fun at first, but I just entered year 2 of 3 and it's getting really difficult. Also, it's more or less just creating loads of advertisements, which I friggin hate to death..
Also, on Mondays we go to this other building where we are seen as employees instead of students. We can even get fired! This is nothing but stress to me. Contacting with actual customers and whatnot.
I talked about this at home, of course. But, I'd like to hear what kind of decisions other people made so I can base my final decision on a re-thought with that in mind, if that makes sense.
Sure, I could go on (I will actually try to finish this and next year), but why do that if it makes me miserable? I don't see quitting school as an end to my life. That's just bs to me. People tell me that, you know? "Oh, if you quit now and don't study further you'll have a miserable life!".
Is that what we've come to in today's society? If you can't get a high degree you're basically fucked? Damn if that's true.. :I
Oh well, enough about this. Let me hear what you guys think. :D

4 Respuestashonestly, yeah. I graduated with a diploma but it has made zero difference as of now. I tried college but dropped it like it was hot after 4 months because it was literally the same education as high school, but costed $4000 a semester which i aint payin for, government funds or not. Our society has become nothing more than spend the useful half of your life in school or working towards a decent job then ride it out till you might be able to retire around 70. seriously screwed up, and the only way to change it is to restructure education from the ground up which will never happen

3 RespuestasWell, there's always the possibility of a career in the military if you're able-bodied and healthy enough to enlist.
-
2 RespuestasThere's other decent paying careers that don't require a degree. Various trades can be a great choice. For instance, I'm about to begin my journey in becoming a Web Dev, it doesn't necessarily require a degree (though it wouldn't hurt) because most employers are looking for experience/how knowledgeable you are (the basics you can self teach yourself). Basically, there's always alternatives. You just have to know where to look.

1 RespuestaYou do not want to be spending the rest of your life working a shitty minimum wage job. Make a choice.

1 RespuestaEditado por Psyntifik: 9/13/2016 4:01:50 PMDegree or not, you've chosen a difficult and specific field to get into. This course seems more like building the foundations of your career, once this is done, you can be more specific. Alternatively, start up your own business. A friend of my works from home doing illustrations for various companies.

Today's schooling sucks. The educstion system is terrible starting at even junior kindergarten and all the way through. I don't have the answer to your problem though.

1 RespuestaUnfortunately drawing comics probably isn't the most profitable thing to do these days. I remember some of the stuff you've drawn and shown off around here, and it's good, it's really good (you draw Worms a lot. Playing WMD?). It really doesn't need to be a profession though, and in the end I don't think you'll want it to become work. Finding a career in a similar medium (digital art) that's a bit more broad than drawing comics that leaves you comfortable enough financially to draw to your heart's content sounds better. I'll take a wild guess and say you aren't thirty yet (How old are you?), Harrison -blam!-ing Ford didn't become an actor until he was 28. He was a carpenter before then, but he's not known for that. There's more time than you might acknowledge to figure out what to do long term, or how to make it work.

I dropped out to work. Went back for awhile, but ended up leaving again - had to for financial reasons. Eventually I finished up my formal education and proceeded on to better things. School only gets you so far. The diploma only holds value as a prerequisite for further training. Do what's right for you. Wanna work in a field that interests you? Pursue it relentlessly and make it happen.

1 RespuestaDo or do not. Either way, you will regret it.
