I can agree that guys who are the absolute top tier of pvp continuously doing trials after they no longer benefit from it is kind of an ignorant move. However, I do the raid after I no longer benefit from it cause I enjoy it, so I can see why they might do it. With that said...
Bungie was right to make matchmaking work based upon how far a team has gotten, they just failed to push it far enough. After completing a flawless trials card a new card should drop, a flawless challenge card. A team would then face off against only other flawless teams for an even better prize.
Think of it as normal raid, trials, and hard mode raid, challenge trials. The top teams at the end of a weekend could get a better reward, community recognition, etc. This would allow the top tier to have something to strive for, while not making trials flawless impossible for the next tier of players.

This. Great idea!
-
This..this is actually a good idea

Stop coming into forums complaining about trials. It's a sweaty playlist. If you can't win get better. Stop trying to get bungie to make you face players that are not as good as you so you can win. This is annoying.
-
I think we all COMPLETELY agree with you, actually. But your statement goes both ways. Its a double standard to say that people should try harder until they can beat teams evenly matched with them when the system doesn't match the high-end ELO guys with each other. This means they're pretty much always facing teams "not as good as <them> so <they> can win." In fact, the scales are so skewed that they're able to carry 1 or 2 lesser talent people. I don't believe the top and bottom of the pile should merit the same rewards, but I also don't believe the current system is as competitive as the people at the top pretend it is. It's pretty sad when the cancerous SBMM system of generic crucible is more competitive (when it actually matches full teams together....).
-
I can see that but they can't connect with people of that are skill because the connection. We have to think about how the connection would be. It's a lot to look at tbh
-
I agree. But I think that's why this guy's method works the best. After the first flawless of the week, you get dumped into the challenge tier and are eligible for additional awards. No SBMM necessary. Match everyone in the challenge and non-challenge tiers in exactly the same way as is currently done, but just keep the two pools separate. If enough people aren't in both pools for proper matchmaking, then Bungie needs to evaluate the reward system. I'm prepared to bet a significant portion of the people playing trials currently just wants 1 flawless run to get the grimoire and call it done. I'm also prepared to bet this group of people are regularly being fed to the high ELO guys who're just farming through, and especially the guys getting paid (either directly through PayPal or indirectly through subs).

Stop commenting on posts before reading them and thinking about them.

Lol I know this guy has no problem and is speaking for others but the complaints because you can't to flawless are childish, like just practice. Add people you play well with in skirmish play with them more get chemistry with them
-
I know complaints are childish, that's why I acknowledged both sides of the issue and offered an idea. You did comment originally to my reply. I have actually never tried for flawless, I've probably done less than 9 total matches in trials.
-
lol everybody can go flawless it just takes patience and chemistry and yea I did come strong lol but I'm glad I can see where you're coming from.
-
No worries, I appreciate opposite views, it helps refine ideas.

Trials Challenge. Great idea. It would be an even bigger ego trip for the "lighthouse gatekeepers" if they can dominate the challenge cards, they'd rush through the first one just to get to the challenge so they can stomp it for the rest of the weekend.
-
If we did that, we would have 99% of the players complaining that they cannot complete the Lighthouse Challenge mode instead of "just" the 90% who complain now that they cannot reach the regular Lighthouse.

Amazing how people of logic think

good thinking

Damn! Now that's a Hell of a Idea!
-
That's a great idea.

Yeah, but there should be more rewards for them. Similar to how oryx hard raid drops harrowed gear. Than a separation between the tiers can be made.
-
A separation, but not new loot. Say, if you do that tier then you could go to the lighthouse again for a second dip of rewards with A (max light) B (Double the Drops) C (Have a super cool weapon ornaments or something , or at least, way increased chance of dropping compared to normal lighthouse so that way normal flawless can still get them too)
-
I wouldn't make a giant step in new loot, but loot with a slight change in name like the raid has and a minor light level difference. Nothing really more than bragging rights. It has to be something a normal trials run can't get to make it worth while.
-
I'm saying that the ornaments should be like, 1-5% drop for normal flawless. And the ornaments should be 30-50% for the enhanced one.
