First let me be very clear, this posting is NOT directed to those people who have in a polite and what I believe was a spirit of helpfulness; informed me that I placed a posting in the wrong category/sub-category.
I am addressing the people who have in an abrupt, rude and or condescending manner told me something to the effect of, "Wrong category, wrong sub-category; learn to use the forums before posting."
I have a couple of questions as well as an observation:
First: Sorry but could you please direct me to the training manual and associated quiz or test I was suppose to take before being authorized to post on this web-site? Or right you can't, because no such requirement exists. Why is such a requirement not in place if this is such a critical aspect? Simply put, because it is not that important.
Secondly: Who made you the Gods of the Destiny forums? After receiving several of these messages, I looked carefully at the categories and associated sub-categories and find that much of it is really up to ones interpretation. This opinion has been backed up by some follow on comments, in which other posters have disagreed with the poster asserting that I had posted in the wrong area (I am not saying that it was in the most accurate category, I am pointing out that even amongst those who post far more often than I do, there is not complete agreement on what does and does not belong in a particular section).
Thirdly: This truly is not intended as a dig; so please don't take it that way. I can't help but to wonder when you come across something that could be or even is clearly posted under the wrong section, why do you care at all? Let alone care enough to take the time to write the person and point out what you perceive as an error, yet not even take the time to address the issue they have presented? This makes you come across as some sort of Destiny Elitist (Last time I checked, being elitist of any kind was not a good thing).
The vast majority of the time I am browsing the forums, (Which admittedly is not that often) I don't even notice if something is or is not in the wrong category and you know why? Because I don't care. I look at the subject lines, if something appears to interest me I look at it, if not I pass over it and move on.
Seriously people, this is a web-site dedicated to a game; yes I love the game and have played it a lot and occasionally enjoy seeing and sometimes sharing my opinion on one aspect or another of the game. In the end though, this is just a game; my quality of life and that of the real world is not going to be any better or any worse if I or someone else, "Heaven forbid" posts something in the wrong category or sub-category.
Rather than apparently trolling around the forums seeking out those evil posters who in YOUR opinion have violated some unwritten posting protocol how about focusing on the subject matter the poster presented and when you feel so inclined, comment about that.

Bro - this shit belongs in #belair

1 RespuestaWell if someone is dumb enough to put an LFG post in offtopic instead of #recruitment, or a "nerf thorn" post in offtopic instead of #destiny then chances are you'll have to be blunt with them to get the message through. It's simple things like using your brain to work out where to post something that means you'll get the desired responses and the mods can spend more time weeding out the shit on here and less time moving posts to the right places.

1 RespuestaThis is the Bungie forum. It has never been exclusively for Destiny

The way I see it: "There are subforums specifically for destiny and you decide to post this in the one that says OffTopic?"
The luckiest seven you will ever meet
#destiny. These are the bungie forums, #gaming and #offtopic are the only safe places from mindless sheep spewing drivel all over the place, so we get, understandably, annoyed when you illiterate sheep post in them anyway.

Cry me a river, build a bridge, and get over it. You have a whole subforum dedicated to your game, so use it.
some unwritten posting protocol
It's not exactly unwritten. The sub-forums have pretty clear purposes. There are two (that is exactly 2) sub-forums, Offtopic and Gaming, that exist for subjects that are not Destiny. Gaming is for all games that aren't Destiny, Offtopic is "If it doesn't go anywhere else, it goes here." It's really not a complex system. Look, this is a community, right? I've been on here for like five years now, maybe six. I don't live here, I don't live on the forums, it's just a place I choose to plant myself online because of the people I've met playing Bungie games. It's social media in a less conventional sort of way. We like to keep things organized, and when newer users put things where they shouldn't and throw a wrench in the whole thing, it's useful to remind them that we have these different sub-categories for posting on different subjects. Those sub-categories are not a punishment, nobody is trying to put you in your place, it just makes everyone's user experience here better. Consolidating Destiny posts into one category puts all of the people who want to talk Destiny in one place and filters out discussion that isn't relevant to their interests. Like minds together, that sort of thing. I would LOVE to tell you that everyone on the Internet is going to be polite about everything, the way I try to be most of the time (I think), but that's just not how it is. If someone posts in the wrong place and another user is an asshole about directing them elsewhere, that's just how it goes. That guy you think is a troll doesn't know you, anything about you, what color your hair is or how tall you are, (s)he just saw you do something out of whack and hounded you for it. That's not something you should take personal offense to. If you plan on existing on the Internet then grow a thicker skin and make a proactive effort to fall in line to the fairly intuitive guidelines for what goes where, not for them but for you and your experience here on bnet in our community we may or may not have silly names for. Sorry if someone was mean to you on the Internet, but people like that don't care that you wrote this essay or why, they just get a rise out of being condescending or disparaging in instances where they can be seen as being in the right. And nobody polices this place, nobody thinks they're a "God" around here because that would be ridiculous. Posting "Use #Destiny for Destiny discussion, (asshole)" takes like five seconds. That's five seconds they could have been staring at memes or playing videogames, or reading a book, walking to their kitchen, ,. Not much happens in five seconds. In fact the collective time people may have spent "trolling around" misposts of yours or others might even be less than the time it took you to write this thread. We are all currently on an online gaming forum and let's not pretend there is any more or less shame in that between different users.

1st: use common sense. 2nd: I did. 3rd: because I can't think of a witty response when I do that anyway. I don't see why you're mad about this, just leave this sub-forum and never come back if it hurts you that much to be corrected.
