Elite Dangerous is probably the best bet for people looking for a real space sim. Star Citizen will be but it isn't coming out until holiday of 2017 at least. Frontier's goal with Elite is to be what Star Citizen will be, I would argue even more than SC. It's making its way.

Well Star Citizen's single player portion is anticipated to release late this year/next year. But I guess we'll have to wait to see.

Sure but that isn't the full release. That's just when we get to play it in free play days or whatever.

Squadron 42 is what he was referring to, which will be a full single player campaign for SC. It's slated to come out this year, which knowing CIG means early next year.

Oh. How does that work? It's a separate game that is only the campaign?

Essentially, it'll be accessed through the same launcher but it's a self contained single player game.
