It's also a good way to actually learn graphic design without having to spend a couple hundred dollars. I've used photoshop for years now, and I'm still learning new things about it. It's a very confusing program, and if you're just going to play around with photos, it's better to just use something like GIMP so you don't have to spend a couple hundred dollars or risk getting it illegally for something that you won't even understand how to use for a little while. I actually started out just making forum signatures for fun on GIMP, and it snowballed into a hobby. The above image was done in less than 5 minutes, and could absolutely be done in GIMP as well. If I had spent more time with it, I could have make it look more natural, even with GIMP, but I think it looks funnier as is.
