I Fear for the Future of Sidearms
As an avid Sidearm user in both PvE and PvP, I am legitimately afraid of Bungie adding so many more Sidearms (and new Archetypes) in the game with Rise of Iron, as that could possibly allow certain sidearms to be viewed as OP in the eyes of players and perform the Nerf-hammer Summoning Ritual and may lead to a carpet nerf on all Sidearms (instead of just the ones causing problems) like with Handcannons. Making most Sidearms neigh unusable.
Does anyone else share this concern, or am I just crazy with Nerf Trauma?

Lol i don't use them but i think you have good reason to worry it won't take long for the nerf kids to have a cry about it if they start getting to popular which it looks like they might take off with this duel wielding option

Stop worrying, unless they become ohk weapons or can kill as fast as a TLW in mid range you won't see anyone complaining about them.

2 RespuestasThere's nothing to nerf. They have all of two real types and both types have some real performance issues even with God rolls. What we really need is for the stat arrays not to be so obtuse. I can't really compare them looking at them.

Seriously, you can fire sidearms faster than you might think, and the do much more damage than you might think. Just try using a sidearm in the crucible. Its Edit:Hard to use

Don't worry, if nobody uses them then you have nothing to worry about. But when everyone's favorite youtuber/streamer talks about how good they are, then you'll see posts about how OP they are and once that happens.......

Never used sidearms. Useless to a mostly pver like me. Wouldn't be bothered if they just did away with them

Sidearms are alright, actually. What I would have a problem with is potential exotic sidearms much better than the dregs promise. Its a meh gun, but make a better exotic, and you might have a problem on your hands (depending on [i]how[/i] exotic). I think sidearms should get a movement buff too. I know logic isnt listed very high in the priorities in this game (magic warlocks with purple space bombs) but smallest weapon in game should allow for greater movement...no?

Sidearms are a joke for competitive. They seriously need a buff. Without being able to revive kill, why use them over a shotty or sniper? There needs to be a reason why. I want a ttk of .5 on sidearms.

4 RespuestasIt's a shame how underrated sidearms are. They're tons of fun to use, and really encourage a mobile play style. Which IMO makes for much more interesting encounters than the boring sniper meta. Sidearm kills really feel like you've earned them, while sliding around corners and shotgunning people in the face before they can react never felt rewarding to me. Plus the aesthetic of most sidearms is just very simple and classy. No need for the machismo of other guns when you can melt your opposition while looking like a gentleman.

Was using an Ironwreath against people who camped with snipers. One hate mailed me calling it OP. The same day I was told fusion rifles were OP. (Not the ironic joke, either. He meant it.) This player base is just so dumb. Yup, sidearms are OP, but snipers are fine. Crutches man.

2 RespuestasI've seen footage of the new exotic sidearm and I guarantee people will complain about it. When people complain about one gun...or a few(thorn, TLW and Hawkmoon) Bungie goes way overboard and nerfs the entire weapon class. Handcannons have never recovered. The only way they're decent(no phantom bullets) is if they have range perks i.e. Rangefinder, Rifled Barrel, Hammerforged, etc.

27 RespuestasAside from Dregs Promise, I didn't know sidearms had archetypes. They all seem to handle about the same to me. I just wish we had gotten a year two variant of the Vestian Dynasty.
