Bungie, stop forgetting about sunsingers

I feel like Bungie has just forgotten about sunsingers. They nerfed sunsingers to the ground, giving them no really good grenades, and left tons of broken perks (looking at you, solar wind) and when I play warlock I fell like I'm left only 1 viable class, being energy drain voidwalker. Make firebolts actually hit things in their radius, and make Viking funeral useful but not as good as pre june update. Something needs to be done about self res (even though I never use it) in the fact that you can't even move without getting shotgun melee, smashed, or sniped in the face. The whole super of radiance is extremely underwhelming, and the class is almost unusable. Note: my cousin just got Destiny recently, he mains warlock. He leveled up stormcaller and voidwalker but not sunsinger because he thinks they're useless so yeah. Edit: for everyone saying stop moaning a bitching about it, I'm really not. I would like to be able to viably use my third subclass as a warlock, and not put myself at a disadvantage. I just want balance. A fix?: Sorry about grammar mistakes and stuff, I made this quick and didn't have time to proofread. WARNING LONG READ! READ ALL THEN LEAVE FEEDBACK! Now for my ideas. I think to fit the support role, it could kinda work like ana from overwatch. Grenades if hitting allies, (fusions can stick allies, solar can have them pass through the aoe, and firebolts can seek allies,) instantly start allied health regeneration and recharge their abilities instantly (give them a visible buff when this happens so you don't scare them) and make song of flame useful by giving a weapons of light kind of affect while in the radius (not quite as good) and make like a ring of fire around the user while they're on super to show allies they're using it, and give a visual indicator when it's buffing them. You can melee a teammate to give them a slight 10% damage buff for 10-15 seconds or an enemy and have it works the way it does now, by burning them. We need a radiance overhaul. While surrounded in radiance, you can shoot and ally to restore health and ability charges (the amount of health depends on the impact of the gun ex. A sniper body shot on an ally while you are in radiance will restore 167 health WITHOUT starting regeneration when using the longbow variety. Radiant skin should buff allies armor when in a certain radius, and self Rez should give an overshield on activation the dissipates after three seconds of activation, along with quicker animation time. More melee: flame shield should give allies a shield if you melee them. Solar wind should emit a pulse wave type this knocking back enemies, buffing nearby allies agility, and doing 15 ignite damage to other enemies in radius. Brimstone should ignite enemies in radius with also finite damage plus burn and allies get health regeneration by getting hit with exploration. Touch of flame should increase radius of all grenades as well as cause burn. Angel of light should give the same perk to nearby allies, with a buff on the hud, within a large passive radius. Gift of the sun is good as is. Viking funeral need to give allies hit by grenades and 10% damage buff for 8 seconds, and have the timer refresh everytime you stack it again. This is how I feel the sunsinger can really fill the roll of a support class and do it super well, well at the same time, making it more useful in team pve encounters.

  • Still hate sunsingers in pvp. My emotions will never change about them. They are viable assets in pve for sure, but in pve they were annoying before their update.

    I personally don't use a Warlock, so I can't speak directly to how Sunsingers are playing right now other than running into them in the Crucible. But I will bring your feedback to the devs on how you would like to see them improved. I have seen quite a few threads asking for this recently. Post below with your ideas on what you would like to see them changed in the future.

    • Sunsinger has been balanced because of the June update. Before this they didn't rely on skill. The relied on OP abilities. The update rooted out the weak from the strong, just as trials does. What does need to be wipped away from existence is all res sniping and radiance sniping. That is a cheater's and coward's way out.

      • Sunsingers are working as intended. No buff needed. The days of obnoxiously tagging people with burning nades and rushing are over. They are now balance.

                  • What they could do to fix Sunsinger: [i]Radiance[/i] should give a slight increase to grenade damage, at least if you're using Song of Flame. Radiance already makes your melee stronger intrinsically while active. Can't see a reason why the Super can't give a little boost to grenade damage as well. [i]Sunburst[/i] should grant Solar Grenade an increase in size like Voidwalker's [i]Annihilate[/i], or provide them with a blinding effect within a certain radius for their duration like the [i]Purifier Robes[/i] do for Fireborn. [i]Solar Wind[/i] either needs an increase to knock-back distance, and the ability to push multiple enemies at once, or to be redesigned as a Solar projectile. [i]Viking Funeral[/i] needs to be increased to 10% for 5-7 seconds [i]Brimstone[/i] should have a larger explosion on kill, and blind or ignite enemies damaged by the explosion [i]Song of Flame[/i] needs a larger radius, and a more noticeable visual indicator, like a flame effect surrounding or overlapping the melee and grenade charge icons in your teammates' HUDs. [i]Radiant Skin[/i] should have the additional effect of granting you and your nearby allies AoE Solar pulses, similar to Electrostatic Mind's AoE Arc pulses, that damages and ignites enemies. Enemies that melee you or your allies while under the effect of Radiant Skin are ignited. [i]Purifier Robes[/i] should grant a continuous blinding effect within a certain radius around you during Radiance, rather than just in Fireborn activation.

                      • I don't play warlock that often in pvp, but I think sunsinger in pve is pretty good. I like to use Radiant Skin + Radiant Will + Claws of Ahamkara with double fusion nades and flame shields. or Fireborn + VF + ToF + Sunbreakers with solar grenades and Solar Wind. The first setup can take down any patrol boss in one Super. I prefer patrolling to Strikes, atm. Solar grenades I like. Enemies seem to get sucked inward like a star's gravity. Effective, IMO.

                      • Hmm, not sure what your talking about... Fusions with star fire protocol is awesome, plant one on someones face every 12.5 seconds. Sunbreaker's with solar grenades + VF/ToF is fast killing and not something you can just run through. Don't play with firebolt, that thing was useless from the start for me. Covering an area with long lasting solar grenades is hilarious! Even if they jump, they come back down into an inferno! Iv landed many a kills this way. Gota be creative with those grenades.

                        • Bungie hasn't forgotten about Sunsingers, there just hasn't been a patch since they got their burn fixed. What Bungie HAS forgotten about is Arcbolt, Flux grenade, shoulder charge hit detection, and scatter grenade duds just to name a few. So if you think you've been too weak for too long, look around. I'm not saying that shouldn't be buffed, but I am saying that you haven't been "forgotten".

                            • Sunsinger was the first subclass I used with my warlock. I kind of got tired of being more limited to using strict perks to make it a (barely) viable option. I tried out voidwalker for the first time the other day and I wished I had done that sooner.

                              I dont remember anyone providing the idea for the current Viking Funeral. So why does Bungie ask for our ideas. Personal I think it's just lip service to ask us for ideas. Also. Jeeze Cosmo play the classes man. I really can't believe you aren't required to be in touch with the product that the community plays and you interact with. What else in the game do you have zero experience with? Some weps? A raid? Would things get seriously looked at faster or implimented if we made suggestions for a class or item YOU actually use?

                              • I'm sorry but warlocks are still OP regardless of what you say. Their stickies are OP, Burn damage is OP, Nova bomb radius is 2x or 3x that of rocket launchers, and they also have flame shield. If you're not good and or smart enough to know WHEN to use radiance just don't use the class, period.

                                • I used to main sun singer until the recent nerf where I found that the only positives of the class are fusion nades and the very shitty self red where you can barely kill anyone because you can't spam nades, that's why I changed to voidwalker because you can actually kill people with the super

                                • Yeah, I've mained worlock since year one. Sun singer has been called OP for ridiculous reasons and has been nerfed according. People should shut their mouth and deal with how the game works, because everything in destiny has strengths and weaknesses. Deal with it.
