No, it's fine as it is. Games like destiny need economies to stop people hoarding and then exploiting the levelling system

In that case, Bungie should do something to prevent all the ridiculous quick leveling people will do with RoI. Ya know, all the "expansion prep" where people hoard bounties and get their factions near leveling up. I don't really care if people do it until people start acting like elitist snobs because they leveled up faster.
-
That's just the nature of these games , nothing you can do about stopping it . These same players will be moaning about lack of content soon enough .
-
Very true!
-
Except most gear you buy with marks come at a light level of 280 so...no.
-
Yeah, but what light level were we before TTK? I actually can't remember . But I imagine it was below 280
-
Ttk added legendary marks anyway, so no hording was avalible
-
What relevance does that have? We're not pre-TTK anymore. So why not increase mark and glimmer cap? What negative impact could it possibly have on the players? There's no in-game "economy" that actually matters.
-
My point is , is that perhaps the vendor gear , at time of new expansion is higher than your current light level , maybe significantly . So if there was no cap on legendary marks , you would just buy full sets , straight away for all characters . Which breaks the point of a looter shooter
-
Ya know what else breaks a looter shooter? Perks, light levels in general, limited vault space, nerfs that don't separate between PvP/PvE. Caps are the dumbest of reasons. Why not just have a higher mark. Everything you buy still stays at 280 anyway. People infuse stuff to get it higher. Your points make no sense and are counterintuitive to the kind of game Destiny is in general.
-
Would have to disagree with you . Perks make the game fun and give you something to chase for . Light levels are in all these type of games and are essential for Destinys MMO light structure . Can't disagree with vault etc of course but you need some sort of economy cap .
-
Perks aren't something to chase for. That's what exotics are for. Perks make a looter shooter a larger grind. Either way we just won't see eye to eye on this so let's leave it be
-
Fair enough but if you think destiny is a "grind" , you haven't really played a real MMO before. Destiny is a cakewalk
-
It's a grind for the wrong reasons. Arbitrary limits and time-locked quests aren't the ways to make an mmo fun. I know my MMO's and understand a grind, no need for the condescension. Coulda just left it alone.
-
You must be a WoW player , lol
-
Nope, don't like WoW. Don't PC game at all.
-
I have over 2000 strange coins. I think doubling the legendary mark cap won't hurt the "economy" in the slightest. Seems dumb that you can only purchase a single vendor weapon at a time—unless you're dedicated enough to save bounties for more marks.
-
Strange coins doesn't really exploit the levelling system though , does it ? You can only buy stuff from Xur . I suppose you could buy heavy ammo synths and get packages from vendors . There's an idea actually , I've got way more than 2000 coins You could buy entire legendary sets of armour on day one of the expansion with a mass of marks, which was my original point
-
Strange coins absolutely are just as valuable as legendary marks. Sure, you'd be able to buy a full vendor armor set with 400 legendary marks. But for about 60 coins I'll be able to buy armor of the same light level and infuse it to armor I already have. Same concept. I'm sure you do have 2000 coins. That's besides the point though.
-
I wasn't trying to brag about my coinage (poorly worded statement ) I was actually just agreeing with you that this could be an easy way to level and I hadn't thought about it . So current vendor gear is 5 below max I think , so I could just buy thousands of heavy Ammo and level up factions , right ? Wonder how effective and how many level up packages would be needed for say a 10 level light increase ?
-
My mistake—I thought you were disagreeing. Leveling up factions for increased light seems like too much of a waste of materials to me. 33-34 coins per rank (or slightly less if you have the exotic faction class items) for a piece of gear with a 3-4 light increase. We'll see how easy it is to get to 385. Remember that's only 50 light, whereas Y1->Y2 was a 130 light increase.
-
Very true , given this is probably last expansion until the sequel there will be no rush to max light . I was just thinking about getting a character raid ready for the weekend when it opens
