At high levels of play, no one uses them. 1. Because both players are skilled at strafing and the TTK is so long that it becones difficult to someone in a 1v1 match up unless someone makes a mistake. 2. They don't kill fast enough to command any respect from special weapon uses. 3 The speed at which Guardians can close with blink and titan-skating greatly increases the EFFECTIVE range of shotguns. 4. The weapon system allows people to choose what weapon they want to fight with....so there is no way to FORCE people to play with the slower killing primaries, before they run out of ammo. Bottomline, the primary weapon TTK in this game incompatible with a weaons system where players can choose what weapon they wish to fight with (fastest-killing), and the speed at which Guardians can move around the map. Which is why the special weapon spamming problem in this game NEVER goes away.
