I have to rant for a sec so I apologize up front. I work in video games and have been playing video games daily and extensively for roughly 27 of my 35 years on Earth. I talk, work with and play video games nearly all day everyday. My job affords me the luxury of watching and reading reviews of games all the time too. So I say all that to say this: I have never seen, from what I can recall off the top of my head, more "dumbassery" and just stupid AF comments and reviews from the CoD generation we have now about a game than I am seeing with NMS.
Apparently, people thought this was going to be Star Wars? I guess there's not enough pew pew for the tea bagging CoD generation out there, eh? This game is EXACTLY what Hello Games said it would be, which was a chill explore at your own pace exploration/survival game that hey if you find time try to make it to the center of the galaxy/universe. That's it, that's literally fuqng it! It's a 12-15 person team at Hello Games using procedural generation - do the CoD kids not know WTF that means when they complain about everything being "same-ish"? What they even did was amazing to this point for the people and resources they have and mark my words that the math and tech they have implemented to make this game will greatly change and improve video games. The ONLY thing I can think of that is not as it sounded like it would be is co-op playing.
Other than that, when I popped my disc into my PS4 and played my first few hours this weekend, I got EXACTLY what I thought I would get. The problem is, and this is my observation and opinion, is that the hype train that got out of control was caused directly by SONY. I have a PS4, XB1 and WiiU, so I play all 3 and there is no anti-PS4 bias here just to shut that argument before it happens, but SONY went overboard on the hype. Not Hello Games, but SONY. 2014 and 2015 were down years for SONY at E3 had it not been for NMS. Multiple write ups about those E3's those years shared the same thought I had myself, SONY just kept trotting out remake after remake and promising games that should have been out friggin' years ago *last guardian cough cough*. NMS was basically their crutch those years. I really feel like if anyone should be blamed for over hype train it needs to be aimed at SONY.
Unfortunately I'm sure Hello Games will cater to the whiny YouTubers and make it the Division where other players are stealing my stuff. But until then I will play and enjoy the game. I just really am getting tired of the streaming/YouTube generation and the brain dead lemmings that slurp that stuff up! Those same people ruined Destiny with nerfs, are starting to ruin Overwatch (slowly but the nerf flood gates have been opened) and will probably force NMS to change drastically. I want some things to be changed/added as well but I don't want Elite Dangerous or Star Citizen, if I did I would just go get those games. FFS we have some really stupid people we have to share oxygen with.
As I was having an IM conversation at work with a buddy about this whole subject, he had what I feel like is a great response to all of this, maybe the best yet:
"Wait, you mean I can't headshot n00bs and tea bag their corpses in the same 10 maps over and over again? You mean to tell me I can't play the same 10 hour story line in EVERY. SINGLE. -blam!-ING. GAME?! -blam!- you hello games. How dare you give me something original and meaningful that fulfills everything that you as a developer have ever wanted in a -blam!-ing video game? I wanna -blam!-ing shoot people because I'm a pre pubescent 19 year old manchild that doesn't understand the fact that not all video games are outlets for my 'misunderstood nerd rage' and social anxieties."

3 RespuestasOp knows nothing about how disappointed everyone who preordered this was and just angrily shitposted this whole thing because people were bashing his favorite rock collecting simulator.
-
Long before the game ever released I always said that NMS was not going to be a game for everybody. Seems to have been an accurate prediction.

1 RespuestaWhat specifically is your job in the game industry?
-
So if people don't like no man's sky, they're just a bunch of angsty teens playing twitch shooters? What?
-
This was a mixture of valid points and childish ranting. Spend less time calling people CoD kiddies and more time on your pretty solid points.
-
If in doubt, blame CoD. Terrible, terrible post.

WHY DO PEOPLE HAVE OPINIONS ABOUT THIS VIDEO GAME IT HURTS ME SO MUCH

2 RespuestasAt the end of the day, developers have been lying for years and hype has always hit the roof. I blame gamers as much as the devs/publishers. If people stopped believing everything they read/see/hear, stopped hyping things up to stupid proportions and stopped pre ordering then I promise you there would be far less complaining. The way I see it, if you are disappointed in No Man's Sky, it's your own fault.

TL;DR Boohoo, other people have different opinions about my favourite game.
-
I knew it would be an exploration game but the game doesn't have enough depth and the planets feel like they are to similar and a lot of the creatures look the same

2 RespuestasWhat is a CoD generation? Early 2000s or near 2010

The only thing I agreed or appreciated about this post is that you acknowledged the fact that Sony hyped it up way too much. That's not to say Sean didn't either. They both told us about a lot of stuff that they clearly cut from the final product. Even the trailer that came out last month was a different product that we have now. So before you say fans are idiots for expecting too much, realize that Sean lied a lot about this game, or at the very least never gave a straight answer.

Editado por Scorpius XX1: 8/18/2016 5:55:51 AMYour oversimplified, narrow minded generalizations make it difficult to suffer through this post and find value in an opinion. NMS is not exactly a bastion of original creative development in it's own right. And I hate to break it to you, but shooting the same rock over and over again for Plutonium, does not mean you are a more sophisticated gamer then someone that plays COD. Very offensive and misinformed post.

3 RespuestasAnybody defending his straight up lies is an idiot. All of you can go defend Peter Molyneux while you're at it. Glad I didn't buy the game, I knew this would be a failure.

Couldn't have said better myself

5 RespuestasMy suspicion is that many of it's shortcomings are due to technical limitations. The game crashes ALOT, the frame rate drops to less than 20 per second for me sometimes and the universe is generally less interesting than what it was advertised to be. Trust me, this is not unrealistic expectations talking. I watched an obscene amount of gameplay and interviews before launch and the core of the game is pretty much exactly what i was expecting. But look at almost any trailer they released and you'll see blatantly missing assets and features. You'll see multistory buildings, massive dinosaur creatures, huge snake monsters, oceans and valleys more densely populated with flora and fauna than anything i've seen in the game thus far. Why strip that stuff away if not for technical limitations you know?

26 RespuestasIf you enjoy the game, then what do you care what other people think?

Editado por bFLY: 8/17/2016 3:54:03 AMI knew pretty quickly after seeing gameplay that it wouldn't keep me interested for longer than a week or so, which is why I skipped it. I don't regret it at all. It's a game for a very specific niche group of players. Having said that, My only comment (I'll make just one, I don't care enough about the game to harp on it too long) is that if so many people didn't understand what they were buying, or thought that the game was going to be something that it's not (which is what you are basically saying) could it be the fault of the devs? Maybe it was them not explaining things clearly enough, or not explaining it enough times to reach the masses that has led to so many angry, confused players. It's just a thought, since every post that defends the game has been using this very same argument to answer all the games faults. It's not really a good enough excuse in my opinion, along with the "it's just an indie games, not a AAA game..." excuse. Just my 2 cents, I'll leave the NMS discussion now; I hope those that enjoy keep enjoying it regardless.

8 RespuestasEditado por StellarBox: 8/17/2016 4:58:09 AMThey're just reviews and comments, don't let them get to you. If you like the game then just enjoy. A random person's comment isn't going change anything. No man Sky is already financially successful. As for adding or changing content. That's up to them, and what they want to do. No one can force them to do change anything about the game. They'll add or change content as they see fit.

28 RespuestasCalled it. I called it right from the get go. "DERES 18 QUINTILILILION PWANETS, AND DEY'LL ALL BE DIFFEWENT!" At first, but similarities will start cropping up. "NO!!" Yes "NO DEY WONT!!" Yes they will "BUT ITS PWOCEDURALLY GENEWATED SO EVEWY PWANETS UNIQUE!!" It'll be from a set pallette though, so essentially you will wind up seeing the same shit painted a different colour. The game will still be awesome, if somewhat niche, but your expectations are too high "BUT ITS PWOCEDURALLY GENEWATED" -_-

14 RespuestasThis entire post is ironic. So, you're friend doesn't like the repetition of multiplayer maps, or playing the same story over again? But a game that to it's fundamental core is about repetition is the most amazing game in the past decade? Those stupid people that we have to share oxygen with, are you and your friend.
