If you were GUARANTEED loot if you played often, it would be "rewarding" As it was, and still is....it's LUCK.
My pal played since the beta....never ONCE got the Vex Mythoclast after countless hard VoGs. Me? Very first time. If it's any consolation to others who never or almost never got the Vex, it took me till almost year 2 to get my Fatebringer.
He and I got our Gjally's on back-to-back Nightfalls. I got mine, called him up, "OMGallydrop!!! He got on and we ran it together and HE got his! ...Ok, that's more in line with your point, BUT another pal also played since pretty well day one, and he got his Gjally the week before year 2 when Xur sold it again.
As long as loot is based on luck, some people will need every aid they can get if they want to have everything. And as many others have said, if you don't want to use this particular aid, no one's forcing you to.

No you can call it luck but that's what RNG is. I never got a year one ram till 4 weeks into TTK and I only got the hawkmoon 2 weeks before it dropped, but I still think making things easy to get will be the downfall of the game. With each DLC they have made loot easier and easier to get and each time people get bored of the game quicker and quicker simply because they have done everything and have got everything. It's just lazy all your doing is asking for an easy mode to get gear because you cba to put the time and effort into grinding out for it. And its not that I dont want to use 3OC its just that they make getting exotics nothing special anymore, when was the last time you saw an exotic reaction video? Not once during TTK because they are just that easy to get that i'm more excited over getting legendaries now then I am exotics and it shouldn't be like that, the exotics are supposed to be better than legendaries and so therefore harder to earn, not just an easy mode press a button and kill a boss. In short if you're to lazy to grind out for the gear, go play a game like cod where you get it handed to you for doing -blam!- all. Don't ruin this game.
-
There are reaction videos for people getting year 1 legendaries from vanguard and crucible packages, but not for exotics. Thanks Bungo! Thanks 3oC!
-
Right? I was super stoked in year 1 if I could get a legendary to drop. I'm not even sure I knew there were exotics until year 2 because I quit playing because the game was repetitive.
-
You watch reaction videos............tells me all I need to know. Kiddo.
-
I've watched about 2 Destiny reaction videos ever. Calm down gramps. I called you a kiddo because you're acting like one. But go ahead, keep whining on video game forums and keep pretending to be mature.
-
Acting like a kid because I'm calling bullshit on this grindfest of a game? Ok. Typical. Get your head out Bungies arse wee man.
-
If you don't like the game, then why do you play it and why do you post on its forums?
-
Where did I say I didn't like the game? again with the lack of reading. I don't like the artificial padding of playtime through grind. Bungie them self said they didn't want to make a grindfest of a game, this was one of the many pre release lies they told. The core mechanics of the game are good, the developers idea of fun is not. Now away farm omnigul another 300 times you brain dead child.
-
If you don't like grind, then you don't like Destiny. And you probably also don't like RPG'S in general. Go play some CoD story and have fun for the 3 hours it lasts.
-
So the vex mythoclast reaction video I saw the other day wasn't real? What about the gjallarhorn one I saw, is that not real either? There are most definitely a ton of reaction videos for things like vex, gally, crux, bones etc.
-
Those are most likely videos from year 1, further proving my point.
-
Yeah thats what im on about, there were tons of reaction videos to people getting year one exotics, but where are they in year 2? Nowhere because you can get exotics easier than glimmer these days, its boring and it makes legendarys more exciting to earn and that's not how it should be. I should have been screaming with joy at getting a zhalo not an LDR. If that's the way you want it to be then what's the point in them being exotic?
-
Agreed. 3oC made it so I get all of the new exotics from Rahool. I don't remember where or when I got any of them. But I sure as hell remember where and when I got my first Gally. Or Icebreaker. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the idea behind 3oC. Kill a boss or finish a Crucible match, yay an exotic drop. But the fact that Xur sells them? Way too accessible. They should only be drops, just like exotics were back in the day. Let them drop from nightfall and Shaxx's bounties more commonly, and maybe put in a chance for 1 to drop from a strike or Crucible match. Xur selling them is just too much.
-
But even in year one xur sold exotics but it was never a problem, I like the little man hunt each friday to visit xur and see what treasures awaits, the problem isnt xur, the problem is the fact that strange coins are too easy to obtain now, unlike when you had to run the weekly heroics and stuff to get them. Remove three of coins, make exotics drops like they used to be, improve nightfall rewards (its the only endgame piece of content that doesn't give 335 drops excluding exotics, I get the same level of rewards from a nightfall as I do for donating motes to a faction. How is that even?), make strange coins harder to obtain again, and give exotic primarys elements to give us a reason to use them over specials or heavys, idk about you but the only exotics I use are black spindle and truth because there is now really outstanding benefit to using exotic primarys. and because the exotics will be harder to obtain again they can rework them to buff them, as they were nerfed into the ground to the point where they dont feel exotic anymore. This I think will make the reward side of destiny more rewarding for grinding out things rather than just adding in more and more easy mode loot hauls. Whilst i'm excited for the skeleton keys? (the ones for the end of strikes that grant the exclusive gear) Im also kind of annoyed because it is yet again another easy mode loot haul. I found a pattern were with each DLC as bungie have added in more and more easy modes, the player base has gotten bored faster and start demanding new DLC and nerf herding in the crucible. If bungie would just stop shortening the grinds for things, it would help fix a lot of the games problems as we would all be busy grinding away trying to get awesome loot. Think about it, more people grinding away at strikes, raids, nightfalls etc trying to get the awesome loot, then there will be less people in crucible nerf herding, less complaints about lack of content (at least for a little while anyway) and I think it would just return the magic to the game in general. Atleast this is my opinion anyway, i'm sure others will disagree.

Xur selling exotics is fine, I've got no problem there. The only problem is him selling 3oC. We do get a lot of Strange coins nowadays, but we also have factions to dump them into (through heavy ammo synth). Personally, I use a lot of exotics. Exotic swords, sleeper, truth, spindle, telesto, invective, and a ton of different primaries for pvp. I dont think exotics should be on a tier above legendaries. They should be about the same, but they have 1 or 2 unique perks that make them different. You run into serious balance issues if exotics consistently outperform legendaries in pvp. As for elemental primaries... I see no reason why raid weapons wouldn't have elements. Sure, it makes people want to use them over other primaries. But only for PvE... and the raid is the ultimate endgame for PvE. If you beat the raid, then I think you deserve a reward of this tier. It has no effect on Crucible, so why does it matter? Instead, we have people complaining that the raid isn't worth it, which isn't far from the truth at this point.

Yeah the 3OC need to go, they've ruined part of the magic of the game. And as for strange coins I know what you mean by faction dump, I went from rank 0 to 20 with new monarchy in one sitting via heavy synths. The exotics I use are raze lighter, truth, ace of spades, tlaloc, black spindle (raid), mida, malice (raid, only if im a titan in the middle) and universal remote (for fun in crucible sometimes when I get bored of playing serious and just wanna mess about, usually I stop caring about kd for a few matches when I run this) All the other ones just dont feel special, I use a 1kys for a sniper, I have a conspiracy theory for my shotgun, and Im usually running hawksaw or the raid scout as a primary and a quillums as a heavy. I dont use lots of guns I find ones that work and stick to them, but part of the reason I dont use many exotics is just because they get outclassed all the time. Im not saying exotics should be on a tier above legendarys I just mean like if Im in crucible and I get the jump on a guardian I should be able to win with my exotic primary, but most of the time at the minute they would have time to turn round and melt me before I kill them. They need a slight buff so they are just a little bit more powerful than legendaries but you would still lose a 2v1 or a 1v1 if they shoot first etc. And with elemental primarys, they are part of the reason the raids were loved, the weapons were worth the effort to get them (plus the old raids were awesome). The only special thing about the raid weapons is that they do extra damage to taken and can reload themselves (a really underrated ability IMO). Whilst these perks are good, the guns themselves just feel boring, they have nothing special about them. When I think of guns like VoC or Fatebringer I think happy and fun, then when I think of the new raid weapons I just think dark and gloomy and boring. They dont have the same feel as the old raid weapons do. A lot of the fun aspects of the game are slowly disappearing, the nightfall flames, elemental primaries, thrill of finally getting that exotic you've been grinding for for months, getting booted to orbit after wiping in a nightfall, lightswitch modifier, real POE not this challenge mode shit. Just in general the game feels more sweaty and try hardy then the fun casual game it used to be back in year one. Don't get me wrong I love this game and will play it till the end, but I just miss all the old things that made the game fun. Destiny has changed and its just not the same game I fell in love with back in 2014. (I dont literally mean in love lol, but you know what I mean)
