Ok so i graduated high school, but i realized all i learned 4 years of my life is just plain garbage. Why am i learning about the 3 types of rocks and y=mx+b? I feel like an idiot i wish i could've learned how to do taxes or how to get a house with a mortgage. I never learned my Human Rights or what rights i have if a Police Officer wrongfully stops me. I never learned about the current events happening right now but instead i learn about the fricking war of 1812. And last but not least, why was i never taught how the most powerful thing in the world and what motivates people function (money). But heck i may not know that but i can tell you the area of a f*cking square.

5 RespuestasIf a cop stops you you have no rights to fight them, sorry but that's the way it works. They are justified if you fight back

1 RespuestaEditado por The Cellar Door: 8/3/2016 4:50:27 AMTry teaching yourself Calculus, and I'll eat my shoe if you learn it Mr. Ramanujan. The way I look at it, if you don't understand Calculus, you are effectively holding the human race back through your willful ignorance. And you're complaining about middle school geometry and algebra. You go to school to become someone with a well rounded base of knowledge, if you don't like it, drop out and see how far that gets you. Sorry, that's how shit works. Deal with it. You want to learn about current events? How to do your finances? How to interact with police? News flash, you have the entirety of human knowledge at your fingertips, and instead you use the Internet to complain about how nobody serves this readily available knowledge to you on a silver plate. You don't deserve to be financially stable if you think you need someone else to tell you how.

It's to teach you how to think for yourself and how to learn fam.

1 RespuestaWell because people don't -blam!-ing remember that shit, let alone all that shit you mentioned. While they should teach mortgage and taxes, you also shouldn't be an ignorant bafoon who doesn't know what a cell is. There should be a fine mixture, one they have not begun to touch upon yet. Also their methods are tragically bad and shit just goes in one ear and right out the other.

3 RespuestasDont forget you have to go straight to college :) enjoy your life of debt or be called a lazy dead beat for the rest of your life. This aussie girl i know has a year off from school to "live life" and they have gov assistance with it.

10 RespuestasI think the closest thing I learned in school that will have relevance was a substitute teacher that showed us how to make a resume and my economic teacher who gave us a simulated stock market that used real time stock prices. Other than that is was all graphing and hitler killing 2 million jews.

20 RespuestasYou learn that stuff so that you're not ignorant to the world around you and to human history. -blam!-ing kids these days. I swear

1 RespuestaA lot of what you talked about isn't about the facts themselves (especially History). It's about developing a critical, analytical mind. You have to study the past to understand the present. You have to study processes to understand outcomes. I do agree that there should be more practical stuff taught, but I can imagine that a lot of students would moan about mortgages and taxes and such, arguing that they're not relevant for many, if not all, of them. As for learning the more niche topics, like rock formation and such, there'll be a handful of students who find one or more of those topics fascinating, and will have a leg up towards a future career.

Judging by the fact that slope-intercept formula is 7th grade material, and the area of a square is even earlier, it's pretty likely that this guy is still in middle school. I feel as if he's just presenting himself as a high-school graduate to garner support by trying to seem un-biased.

Your parents teach you the things you need to know in the real world. Even if they didn't, you could ask them or research online

1 RespuestaWelcome to the education system, man. Producing educated idiots for over 30yrs, getting worse year by year. Next you'll go to university where you'll learn that all of life's problems are because of whites/men and then you'll finally be indoctrinated into cultural Marxism

It's because the government wants us to not know how to *gets sniped*

At least you figured it out. Try & get a job my friend

There's education in the US?
-
It's basic education and more importantly it shows that you can stick to a task and finish it. Getting good grades in high school and having vocational training along the way shows dedication. You may notice people getting a degree in God only knows what. You may also notice that it is required to be an officer in the army. The reasoning behind that is again it shows dedication along with basic intelligence

2 RespuestasLearn your history so you do not repeat it. The other things you complain of are for your parent or guardian to teach you.
I never learned my Human Rights
Even if they did teach about rights, they likely wouldn't teach about their significance or how they are rightfully derived.

4 RespuestasIf they taught you about money and taxes you might of not blindly followed the masses and go to college and create mounds of debt to yourself to get a job that takes 20+ years to pay it off.
-
I guess you're gonna be the next Bill Gates, right? I guess you're gonna skip college, right? You're too smart for college, right? School's a waste because you didn't learn anything, right? It's not like you need to know those things if you want any kind of a real job, right?

Editado por shell: 8/1/2016 9:08:20 PMI think everyone should take Financial Services in high school. They say "take this if your gonna be a lawyer or a realtor" as if lawyers and realtor's are the only people to pay taxes and have credit scores.
-
You have a very good point

Exactly

If someone has to be taught how to do taxes and how to buy a house with a mortgage payment in high school, they are destined to be a great community leader.
