I've always thought that the Reef Wars were simply between the Awoken and the Fallen. Yet, I read Petra's Grimoire and it says that Guardians were killed by Awoken.
Prince Uldren’s fighter wing did a masterful job. The blast was pinpoint precise. The blasts tore apart the Wolves, and the Guardians, and their Ghosts. Three strike teams of Guardians, gone in an instant, on my order. The City’s anger, the Speaker’s condemnation—all earned. All fair.
Why would the Awoken forces deliberately attack Guardians when they share a common enemy? You'd think that they would be wise enough to work together with the City, even if it was a temporary alliance. So, if anyone knows why Guardians were killed by Awoken in the Reef Wars, feel free explain.

2 RespuestasThe way I read that card was that it was an accident. Guardians were also fighting the Fallen and Petra admits to not understanding the thought process of Guardians and that's what she blames it on. My take is she saw that the Wolves were entrenched in a great defensive position and the Awoken thought, "attacking them is stupid and a waste of lives, let's just bomb them," even though she knew Guardians were headed that way, she figured Guardians would come to the same conclusion and not attack, and so would be safe from the bombing. But the Guardians were like, "we just come back to life, there's nothing to fear from attacking these Wolves, let's get them." What I don't understand is what weapon the Awoken used that killed Guardians seemingly for good based on the fact that it earned condemnation from the Speaker. Also, if she killed some of the Guardians and her actions were condemned by the Speaker, why would she then be chosen as an emissary to the Tower? She should be the last choice for that position.

1 RespuestaIt seems that before the reef wars nobody knew where exactly the reef was. And the awoken would kill anyone who came close to it including guardians. When all the fallen agreed to invade the city (battle of the twilight gap) the queen decide to stop the house of wolves but by doing so revealed the location of the reef! After the wars the queen in prisoned most of the house of wolves and make then servants with the help of variks. (Remember the first time we visit the reef in the story we see fallen next to the queen) After skolas betrays the queen and becomes a treat the queen decides to open the reef to the guardians and we play trough the house of wolves story. Couple of things to note: Had the queen not stopped the house of wolves the last city would fall to the fallen. We were in debt to the queen again when she reveals the location of the black garden. The queen gave skolas to the nine (xûr). And the nine release skolas and gave him a ketch. Sometime between the queen talks with Eris and someone else apparently Osiris related about the next step which is orix. Finally the queen faces orix at the beginning of TTK and says the awoken have played their part. Is up to us to stop orix which we did. Sorry for the long answer!!

Editado por Haffoc: 7/26/2016 9:36:05 AMI'd imagine it was because the Guardians were in The Reefs sovereign space. I doubt the Reef asked for help or gave Guardians permission to be there. Turkey did the same thing to the Russians, despite the Russians bombing the same targets as the West and Turkey.
