The very first time I played the Vanilla story (right after release) I pretty much used Handcannons all the way through. Once I realized how easy it was to headshot enemies, I called it "My Bottle Opener" since it popped the lids off those giant Cabals like nobody's business. Only later did I start messing around with the other guns. Personally, I like Scout and Pulse. I prefer Scout since I tend to get more kills in before having to reload and I like precision.
