Do you believe the Ur-Didact is dead?
Those that played Halo 4 but have not read Greg Bears' Forerunner Saga and Halo Escalation may want to check the bio below for a catch up.
He got composed but as we know that doesn't not mean he is technically dead. His essence has been preserved.
Do you think he is dead and what do you think of the attached video? Do you think he was instrumental to Halo 5's story without even realising it?
Feel free to discuss sure we will get the usual "meh it's 343 so it's automatically bad" comments but that's inevitable knowing some of Halo's illogical fanbase =}
Even though the Didact is mentioned on the Halo 3 terminal. *Smh* lmfao
Halo is love, Halo is life!

1 RespuestaI hope so. Im not a fan of the forerunners. I hope the halo wars 2 covenant faction plays a major role in halo 6. Also the flood.
-
Is this one gonna spawn 20 times in every level like the other giant Bionicle?
-
4 RespuestasI hope so. I found him to be so boring.
-
1 RespuestaEditado por ReignofSpartain: 7/20/2016 5:20:49 AMI think he corrupted cortana it also explains the wardens support for her
-
He's contained, not dead.
-
1 RespuestaHe is not dead. The notes form Brian Reed in the new re-release of Halo Escalation says that the Didact is indeed still alive and we will be seeing him again,
-
3 RespuestasHell no, he's already been confirmed to return. Besides, I'm pretty sure he's not gonna be too happy with a human AI attempting to claim the Mantle lol.
-
1 Respuesta1. In the Halo: Escalation Library edition, Brian Reed elaborated that the Didact wasn't composed in the traditional sense as the Composers weren't around to process his essence because they were destroyed when Gamma Halo impacted into the Composer's Forge. 2. The recently added set of dolls in forge have some interesting descriptions. For example: Doll: Didact - Not all visitors to the Domain are strangers. Pretty clever of 343i to put him there as they knew they'd add him back into the story when they shifted gears towards Halo 5's story focusing entirely on Chief and Cortana.

1 RespuestaEditado por Goldship: 7/20/2016 3:08:46 AMLast time I checked when I played halo 4 I stuffed an incineration grenadine in his chest, so his physically body Is dead, but he could not have fully died
-
28 RespuestasHe's composed, even though he shouldn't be able to be composed. That's mostly thanks to Brian Reeds incompetency. He's in a convenient place where 343 can do absolutely nothing with him and end up just saying he's actually dead. Which I wouldn't put past them given Halo 5's campaign.
-
1 RespuestaI don't think we've seen the last of him, you don't write three novels of character building and then just anticlimactically leave him in limbo. I kinda agree with the Didact=Cortana theory. Activating the Guardians seems like something he would've done, if only to punish humanity and establish Forerunner dominance again. She also wears armor for the first time, and Chief points out that she is different. Is it possible that Cortana reconstructed herself with pieces of the Didact or vice versa?

2 RespuestasEditado por Tartan 118: 7/19/2016 11:48:54 AMTwo points I want to make: 343 has already said we've only seen the beginning of a very long journey for the Didact. So fun, interesting speculation about canon aside, he is unquestionably coming back. My other point is less a counter, more disgruntled fan annoyance - why was such an important part of the Didact's arc, his composure, limited to a comic book? He's the main antagonist of Halo 4, the beginning of a whole new era for the franchise, yet his second, more open-ended defeat is told outside of the games themselves. I understand that Escalation was essentially the narrative for series 2 of Spartan Ops. That much is clear, given how much action each issue contains, and the negative reception to series 1 pushed 343 to deliver the story in another way. Which is understandable. But not entirely forgivable. Not just because this keeps the Didact's current status unknown to the audience who doesn't follow the expanded fiction, but also because it would have initially limited the Didact's current fate to DLC. Imagine H2 ending with Chief leaving High Charity, not with Tartarus' death and the activation of the Array's standby status. I mean, it's not the best analogy because H2 ended pretty abruptly anyway, but I've no doubt the audience would have felt even more cheated if the Great Journey (H2's final level) were DLC.

4 RespuestasOk hear me out here. Cortana "died" when she save the Chief at the end of Halo 4. Saved him near the Mantle's Approach, the Didact's ship. She used the ship systems, and she accessed the Domain to do so. All information is stored in the Domain (if I remember correctly). This probably includes the memories of composed beings. The Ur-Didact was composed, remember? Since the Didact created the Composer, he probably has done sort of influence over it. So I wouldn't be surprised if Didact did happen to manifest a part of him in Cortana. Of if he was the force that managed to bring her back.

4 RespuestasI don't think he is dead. I believe according to the books, the original didact is dead, but I don't think the grenade in the chest killed the didact.
-
1 RespuestaI hope he is. Greg Bear built that story with so much love and 343i just desecrated his character. Best to just move on from him...
-
5 RespuestasHe's probably the warden, or has that already been proven false
-
1 RespuestaI just wanted a boss battle that's not either a quick time event, or literally the same guy, cloned
-
1 RespuestaWasn't there a book with him in it that took place after Halo 5?
-
11 RespuestasApparently when the Halo piece fell on the Composers forge, all remaining 6 fired at once and was composed. Hence why Chief said he was "Contained" it is confirmed he is still alive in a sense. I hope we see him and the Flood again in the future. And By the way, according to a remaining fragment of 343, Isodidact in a way might be still alive.
-
1 RespuestaEditado por Roffle: 7/19/2016 6:40:04 AMNope. Black Team is though :/
-
11 RespuestasI don't think so. I didn't read it, but as you said, he was composed, so I highly doubt he's dead. He might be a little messed up, but not dead, per se. It'd be cool if he returns, as I think he's one of my favorite villains, though the Gravemind is a little cooler, due to the way he talks.
what does "smh" mean? I'm too lazy to look it up, but I see it from time to time.
