Telling someone "muted" is nine times out of ten the coward's way of getting out of an argument they can't win. If I've been verbally sparring with someone for more than a few posts, and they respond with "muted", then i know my point was justified and they were full of shit, because they'd rather censor me than come up with a decent counterpoint.

Or maybe people don't feel like arguing with an idiot, lest they get dragged down to your level and look like an idiot too. Muted. Looks like you lost another one.

Must suck to be so weak that mere words offend you. Edit: of course you'd have the teabagging avatar as well. Big man on the internet doesn't want to get his fwagile feewings hurt. Cry me a river.

Two people already ran with that joke.
-
Hahah joke
-
Seeing as you saw my comment to reply...
-
Actually, you're wrong. From what I've gathered, it's mostly when someone is arguing with a complete idiot but they're too stupid and proud to not let them know "I'm getting the last word here cause I won't get notifications when you reply after this". I never let people know when I mute them. If I mute somebody it's because I couldn't care less what they have to say. I don't need them to know that, just as little as they need to know some nobody on the Internet thinks they're a bag of dicks.
-
Actually, you're wrong.
Not really, because:
I never let people know when I mute them.
You get it. This is the point I'm driving at. It's not the people that mute, it's the people that go out of their way to say "Muted". So you are doing it right.

Somebody already used that joke.

Didn't see

Only time I tell someone I muted em is when they go off the reservation and start talking nonsense.
-
Welcome to this thread! We are so far off the reservation we can be found on no map. We are a unified collective of mutes, huddled in the darkness, ashamed of the aberration that is our ability to speak. Praise be the muted! Let the deafening silence cascade across the land

Ehh, I've literally wrote the exact same amount as someone's argument tearing it to shreds, and they say something like "I'm not reading that, you put too much effort into it" or "that's too much" I'll just mute them, people like that aren't worth any more of my time. Also people who say "you just don't want your crutch nerfed" and yet can't use the weapon themselves and have no actual argument other than "it's overused" or "it's OP" even if it's not (*cough*snipers*cough*) I'll just mute as well, because they never had any intention of having a rational debate in the first place. All they wanted to do was whine about something and have people agree with them, and if no-one does then they'll just act stubborn and that their opinion is the only correct one, while shutting out all logical evidence presented against them. It's actually a lot like Tumblr ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
Tumblr. Ugh. *shudders*

Editado por DrPhilaBole: 7/18/2016 4:34:59 PMlook, when the verbal sparring degrades into "Fuk your mommas ass you fuking punk ass bitch" I mute em .

That's about the time i start reporting all of their posts. Quite a few instances of "ninja justice", for whatever that's worth. I admit, seeing someone get 6 or 7 posts in a row whacked by ninjas is definitely amusing.
-
yeah I do that too. had one guy literally stalk me on XBL cause he got a 2 week forum ban. even made new accounts just to PM me with threats. pretty sure XBL finally suspended his IP after like 5 accounts and making actual threats on my life.
-
See, that's a situation i can understand being way too far. I avoid that as well as most hate mail because my account can't be messaged by anyone not on my Friends list.
-
good idea.

Editado por KannibalKlown: 7/18/2016 3:39:10 PMTrue, but it depends. If one side isn't even listening to the other and (more importantly) is responding with condescending / hurtful remarks, then I'll mute. At which point someone will say something like you just said, having just called me an inbred r-tard a few minutes prior. Life is too short. Debate is cool. Arguing is fine. But insults and such... I'd rather not deal with those people on any level.
-
I can understand not wanting to deal with insults, because that does happen a lot. If i feel a mudslinging has gone on long enough and the other side just refuses to act like an adult, I'll start talking about something random, like what i had for dinner the night before. Eventually, they give up, or the ninjas get them.

*shrug* two options. Either: 1) you're trolling Or: 2) you're a coward. Really no other way around it.
-
I'll take the second option. No jk,was just making fun ^^
