Since you're such a fan of Jefferson's quotes, how about this one?
""I am certainly not an advocate for frequent and untried changes in laws and constitutions. I think moderate imperfections had better be borne with; because, when once known, we accommodate ourselves to them, and find practical means of correcting their ill effects. But I know also, that laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made, new truths disclosed, and manners and opinions change with the change of circumstances, institutions must advance also, and keep pace with the times. We might as well require a man to wear still the coat which fitted him when a boy, as civilized society to remain ever under the regimen of their barbarous ancestors.""
From the same site as your own sources, nonetheless. https://www.monticello.org/site/jefferson/quotations-jefferson-memorial

 • Personally I would like to think the American gun rules should be changed citizens should be able to own weapons but should have to go through strict back ground checks, check if they are mentally stable, etc and the second amendment was formed in a time where there was only flint lock rifles and pistols that would kill one person then take up to a minute top to kill another but now we have fully automatic weapons that can kill many people in seconds and you just need to take out another mag to kill a ton of other people so it should be changed personally- A Canadian Opinion

 • Not my point, it's Jefferson's. He advocated a fluent constitution changing with the times. Laws must change alongside society, discoveries and technological advancements. He says that simply pointing at a part of the constitution and saying "that's how they wrote it 200 years ago, so that's how it must be" is foolish and no different from requiring a grown man to wear the same coat he wore as a young boy. He's effectively saying that just because it was desirable for all men to have unlimited access to weaponry in the 1700's, it doesn't mean that this should be the same today in a much different society.

 • That is false. In the quote I just linked, he said nothing about "small changes" as part of the amendment process. In addition, he literally said that "Every constitution, then, and every law, naturally expires at the end of 19. years. If it be enforced longer, it is an act of force and not of right." No constitutional clause should remain in force for longer than 19 years, he said, after which it should be debated again and a new constitution should be implemented. http://teachingamericanhistory.org/library/document/letter-to-james-madison-17/ And that is all I'm going to say so that those reading this conversation don't buy into your wrong claims. We've already established you're nothing but a troll who is still incapable of spelling "amendment" correctly.

 • There were automatic weapons around while the constitution was being written. Handheld weapons that could put out a large volume of fire in a short time, and the founding fathers were well aware of it. If you are trying to say that the second ammendment shouldn't apply to modern weapons, then the first ammendment shouldn't apply to texting and email.

 • What he's saying is that the Constitution needs to be updated. Taking into account changing times, changing tech, and the like. For example, reconsidering the First Amendment in light of things like online harassment or slander, text-based threats or the like.
