So feminists want equality for women. Meaning they want to be viewed the same as men. Ok, that's cool, I agree, let's be equal. Not one is superior to the other. If this is the case, and we should treat men and women equally, then why does the man "have" to pay for the date? Why does he originally "have" to ask the girl out. Why can't the girl open the door for the man? I just don't get it. The answer I get when I ask this is usually: "men need to be chivalrous". Or "this is how it's always been, it's good to have old values". But if we want old values why don't we just say women should only cook, clean and take care of kids? Why is one acceptable but not the other. Now I'm not saying that men always ask the girl out, or pay for the girl. Don't get me wrong not all girls want this. My wife didn't want a ring when we decided to get married. She doesn't expect me to pander to her because she's a woman. I actually really like that about her. This doesn't mean I don't spend money on her, that's because I want to, not because society tells me to, or because she wants me to. She asked me if I wanted to get married. I guess some girls just don't care. But I've been with lots of women who say they only want to get married if the guy presents a ring that "she" likes. What do you guys think? I just want some legitimate reasons why man should remain chivalrous but women shouldn't just take care of kids, laundry, cooking, etc Why is it sexist if we say women should cook, and clean only? But not sexist to say that men should open doors for the women, and pay for dates.
