If you're a cop, wouldn't concealed carry laws force you to assume everyone is armed? And your best defense is to shoot first? Cos if the other guy shoots first you'll be, you know. Dead.
So while the cop is this case is clearly a few rounds short of a full magazine, can you really blame the cops for assuming everyone is armed and dangerous? I mean the country is swimming in guns to begin with, and now you've made it impossible for them to defend themselves because anybody can legally walk up to them with a hidden gun and there's -blam!- all you can do about it until they start shooting.
Face it folks, cops are not out of control. They are reacting perfectly rationally to the environment: everyone is armed and as a cop your best option for survival is to shoot first and shoot to kill.

I've been stopped three times while carrying and have never been shot. I always informed the officer that I was armed. While open carrying, I exchanged words with an officer. I said, "Good morning officer." He replied, "Good morning to you sir." Don't paint all police officers with the same broad brush.

are you even American?

When you conceal and carry you're still supposed to inform the officer what kind of weapon you have, where it is and other information.

But in this situation the man was doing nothing to provoke him. He was simply letting him know it. I really can't see a reason to defend the cop.
