Its unwise from a marketing standpoint to celebrate a national or religious holiday
There are Destiny players all around the world, they can't make a live event for one group, while ignoring everyone else.
With that said, you can buy independence day gear on GTAOnline, but Rockstar doesn't give a sh't about offending anyone and it takes place in Los Santos a fictional city in California, so it makes sense.
