Let me explain something to you..
There are 3 DIFFERENT classes.
There are 9 DIFFERENT subclasses.
Each class/subclass having equal abilities, pros, and cons totally defeats the purpose of having said classes and subclasses. If you don't like that the Warlock has no "evade" maneuver, then switch to a class that does.
Btw, Blink is currently the best evade maneuver in the game since the recent patch. Sure, it doesn't allow you the ability to change your course of direction no matter what way you're currently moving, but you get 2 Blinks before a cooldown, and you move a much larger distance than Shadestep or Twilight Garrison. Blink, in case you didn't know, is available as a Voidwalker, which is a Warlock subclass. Boom roasted.
No but seriously, there are differences among subclasses for a reason. If you don't like a certain aspect of your subclass, or if you [i]do[/i] like a certain aspect of another subclass, you are free to make the switch at anytime.

It's not a separate ability, correct. But it is nonetheless still a very effective evasion technique.

I have told him that. He insists on using it because Blade Dancer is his favorite subclass. He won't change to a entirely different sub class just to use Shadstep. Blink compared to Blade Dancers double jump is usually a better pick of course but it's a shame that that's the case since blink is poo

Well if you ever seen him play, hes dam near untouchable when he blinks around pre blink nerf. He and other streamers probably slightly contributed to the nerf to blink. Its a lot more impressive to see people use blink effectively rather than spam shadestep.

In the wrong hands, yes. In the right hands, very effective. When I run Voidwalker I'm always astounded at the things I can do with Blink. Like score 10k in a game of Rift. Or close the gap in a gunfight in order to use the Warlocks superior melee abilities. It's very useful, and in my eyes much more effective than shadestep or TG.
