Gender per defenition is to be either male or female. The only difference between gender and sex is that your sex is based on genitalia and your gender is more often based on identification like for transsexuals. Gender literally means being male or female, possibly for other reasons than genitalia. If people want to make a new term for all these "31 genders" or whatever it is go ahead, you're not hurting anyone but gender per defenition will always be either male or female.
