It's amusing reading through threads like these and seeing people talk about how there's some sort of systematic, nationwide effort in America that's been going on for decades to push leftist agendas in every facet of our lives.

The American Republic has become a democracy. It's been downhill since the popular election of Senators. We let the rabble in, and it will destroy us. Everyone always knew that democracies end in failure and tyranny, somehow we allowed ourselves to forget that.

Okay... You seem like a smart and more importantly (to me) reasonable guy from what I've seen, unlike some other users here, but I don't really get the relevance of that. Senators have been elected for over a hundred years and we've gone through multiple liberal/conservative phases since then.
-
I don't think liberal/conservative is even the dichotomy. We have progressive and constitutional. Progressives aim to abolish the constitution. Progressivism has been winning this entire century. The increased democratization led to an increase in federal power. Increased federal power has led to minority factions forcing their beliefs on hostile communities. This only breeds more dysfunction and discontent. The Republicans strike then the Democrats strike back. Neither side cares if they're being constitutional or fair, we're simply playing to win. This country is going to enter it's downward spiral any day now. The SCOTUS interprets laws based on public opinion. Congress tries to win votes at any cost. The president grabs power whenever they can. Neither party gives a damn about the Constitution, which really just means neither party gives a damn about the rule of law.

Well, yeah. I was using liberal/conservative in how they're used in politics today. People pushing for their own agendas and what have you despite their constitutionality isn't really the same as a systematic leftist agenda in the way conservatives here and elsewhere use the phrase though.
-
True. I'm not deluded enough to only heap blame on the left. But, most progressives would identify as liberals. The fact is the most of our Reublican "conservatives" are really just progressives using divisive social issues to gain votes. The few Constitutionalists are usually Republican, atleast currently. Old Ron Paul was a good one. Rand is good enough, but much too compromising. He's too politically ambitious. The argument was simply lost after America's golden post WW2 days seemed to prove Progressivism was right. My only hope is that we adopt a new constitution. I'd just like to see the rule of law, not a nation of cynical lawyers

Are you...retarded? That's exactly what's happening. Why do you think it's an actionable felony to be rightwing in Germany in public?

Editado por tjustie: 7/3/2016 11:50:32 PMI was talking about America, seeing as that's the most prominent demographic of this forum, and where most of the people putting forth these theories are talking about. Perhaps I should have made it more clear. And no, that is not happening in America. I'm curious as to how it's a crime to simply be right wing in Germany though. I'd like to see proof of that. I'm aware that many parts of Europe, Germany included, are going exceedingly far left, but that's ridiculous sounding, and I can't see how it's true.
