They probably got error code beetle, weasel, baboon, etc. At that exact moment.

This is why I love the fallen strike on the ship, where hundreds of dudes rush you when the boss goes down.
-
1 RespuestaExcept those dregs after Taniks. Bitches just keep coming and eating scorch canon to the face
-
Similar to when a shogun died, his samurai would commit Hari Kari. They failed to protect their leader, they will not live with that shame. This stereotype was brought to you by The Last Samurai.
The shame of the 30th consecutive thrall to get melee'd so I can finish a bounty is much higher though...
In the words of DeeJ himself: "Sometimes a gameplay feature is just a gameplay feature."

Its not tied to the lore, thats just a game mechanic.

I feel they should either attack the guardians enraged, since you just killed their Commander. Or they should flee in terror, cause you just killed the strongest among them. Either one would be better than just despawning.
-
5 RespuestasThey just teleport to another persons strike and try to protect the boss It's an endless loop.
-
They killed the boss, run for your lives... From the Guardian? Hell no, the bosses wife! Wait till she hears we let a Guardian kill Mr BadAss!

3 RespuestasCommander is down, retreat. That simple

6 RespuestasThe way I explained it to myself was Hive: Hivemind, when the leader dies they can't function on their own Cabal: Killswitch, Cabal won't tolerate failure so when they fail to protect their leader an implant in their head goes off Vex: Most likely same as Hive, since a million of them share one mind Fallen: Most likely the same as Cabal, I can't think of anything else Taken: Definitely same as Hive, but more to do with mind control. Leader mind controlling minions dies, minions die with it
-
Fallen teleport the -blam!- out of there. Same with Cabal as the mission failed. Vex are withdrawn for other uses. Hive die because their exalted hive leader no longer provides them with power. Taken disappear as they are free from a master.

Gameplay feature
-
Maybe the Architects get rid of them?
-
They're emo, when they see the almighty rawr die they lose control and cut too deep
