The fading smiles represent the fear at the time of the collapse as the golden age ends and the future is uncertain [/spoiler] Hey you out there on your own sitting naked by the phone would you touch me? Hey you with your ear against the wall waiting for someone to call out would you touch me? Hey you would you help me to carry the stone? Open your heart I'm coming home. [spoiler]this is the traveller talking to us sitting naked by the phone refers to our vulnerability as we wait for someone to call out to us in response to the messages we sent out into space. It's responding and wants us to open our hearts to it as it comes home. Carrying the stone refers to the burden of fighting the darkness [/spoiler] But it was only a fantasy. The wall was to high as you can see. No matter how he tried he could not break free. And the worms ate into his brain. [spoiler]this is from the perspective of the the dark, the fantasy that it could destroy us. The wall being to high has 2 meanings the literal walls of the city and a metaphor for a great challenge in front of it. No matter how oryx tried he could not break free of his fate to be destroyed by us. And when we defeat him his worm kills him.[/spoiler] Hey you out there on the road always doing what you're told can you help me? Hey you out there beyond the wall breaking bottles in the hall can you help me? Hey you don't tell me there's no hope at all together we stand divided we fall. [spoiler]this is the traveller and the guardians speaking to each other. We are the ones on the road doing what we are told by the vanguard to help the traveller. The ones who are beyond the wall that it wants help from. And we reply that you can't tell us there is no hope and we must stand together.[/spoiler] [spoiler]did you hear that?
