Difference between dogs and cats and the farm animals we eat.
This is for people who say "if you eat cows, why don't you eat dogs and cats? They're animals, and you eat animals. So what's the deal hombre'" Throughout history humans have used dogs for hunting. Dogs were used in skirmishes and were used to protect animals used for milk, leather, and yes, meat. Dogs have always been used to help humans. Our relationship with dogs now is just an extension of that. That is why we do not eat dogs.
Now maybe you're asking yourself "what about cats?" Same things goes for cats as well. Cats were used in households to kill mice and rats. They were also used to kill moles and other crop killing creatures. They've always been seen as friend, not food. Also, they have to have at least a modicum of intelligence. Farm animals, really only have one purpose. Ensure the survival of the species. That's is simply not the case with dogs and cats

We eat prey, not predators

The difference is farm animals taste better. Because we've been breeding them to taste better for thousands of years. If cows were better at protecting our dwellings, they would have stayed off the plate. We haven't been doing the same with pets. We kept them around for protection (dogs) and pest control (cats). So we didn't eat them. Pets don't taste good because it was never our desire to make them taste better. If I'm oversimplifying it's to keep this short.

Cows on the other hand are prey and are meant to be eaten. Hunters are not meant to be eaten thats why i for example dont eat bear meat.
