I know of this young couple in my home town that have found themselves with no place to call home. They are both seventeen and have a child together. Currently they are staying with friends but that is only temporary.
Unfortunately they are unable to gain government assistance until one of them turns eighteen in eight months, and they are afraid to turn to CYS for fear that they will lose their child. They do not have a lot of money and their families are both abusive and refuse to let them live under either of their roofs.
Any information that I could pass along to them would be greatly appreciated. Also I know that they have made some poor life choices so please don't comment reiterating that.

1 RespuestaThey've made some real poor life choices

1 RespuestaThey can rent out a place once one of them turns 18, so it's probably just a waiting game for now. Otherwise, I would take the suggestions of the people below and advise one of them about the military.
-
1 RespuestaSomeone else mentioned military. This is truly the best way. They do provide age waivers. I'd tell him/her to go talk to a recruiter just to find out what can be done for them.

2 RespuestasAside from falling back on whatever network of friends they have, there are few options available sadly.

1 RespuestaThis makes me really sad, cant you offer them a place to stay in ur house?just wondering

2 RespuestasEditado por Tomnipotent: 6/22/2016 9:46:17 PM1. Start a youtube channel and vlog their everyday life showing what it's like to have a kid at that age with no help? Could be very popular.. make lots of money from youtube. 2. Get a small job.. save some money and get your truck driving license. Salary for truck driving jobs are like 60 grand a year. 3. Be a garbage man.. no education require.. but they make great money. 4. Study economics.. invest in the stock market. 5. Slay a dragon, use the reward money for saving the kingdom to start a new life. Personally id go with 5. You can get a decent sword from ebay.

3 RespuestasIf either of them are involved with a church, the church might be able to help. I've seen the churches around my area raise money to help struggling members.

9 RespuestasJoining the military would pay and offer a scholarship so that one of them could attend college and get an education for a job.

1 RespuestaEditado por Auttumnnnn: 6/22/2016 8:14:44 PMI would give the child up and maybe see if they can get some money to take a bus to the nearest homeless shelter until they can get started with their adult lives. And then figure it out from there. I'm sure giving up one's child must be the hardest thing in the world to do, but it's what's best for the child.
I think it's wonderful that you're going out of your way to try to help these people. I respect you as a person, and thank you for your selflessness. It's people like you who help to make this world a better place.
Post birth abortion.
-
11 RespuestasThey should have thought about that before they had sex.
-
3 RespuestasGive up the kid. They're in no position to raise it effectively and need to consolidate their situation first.
-
7 RespuestasThey shouldn't have had a child that early. Since they weren't financially prepared, and cannot gain government assistance, the best thing to do would be to let the state take the child until they are financially stable and can fight for custody.
