So for the past few months there has been constant complaining about the state of firebolt builds for sunsingers, however, to be perfectly honest, why was there not the same level of complaining about the arcbolts in the year one meta?
Arcbolts were equally, if not more powerful, they did over half health worth of damage *instantly* and could chain to nearby targets, making them very strong.
However those people who threw a 'nade before every gunfight' could still be easily outgunned (unlike with the pre June nerf were firebolts could greatly tip the outcome of a gunfight).
People who threw a 'nade before every gunfight' could be outgunned because the year one meta focused so much on gunskill that you could melt anyone whilst they were throwing a nade, or even during the time when they are switching to their weapon after throwing the nade.
This was because the weapons of the year one meta killed so quickly that is was all down to gunskill, reaction time, and positioning to decide who was going to win a gunfight, unlike now were it is decided upon by subclass involvement.
The weapons of the year two meta kill very slowely, and so gunplay does not focus on gunskill, but who can throw the more powerful nade and hide in a corner while their teammate comes to clean up the kill.
I really hate the current meta, I liked year one where it was focused around gunskill and reaction time. I think everyone else would enjoy that too.

7 Respuestaslet's get some elementary properties straight: Twitch skill is not gun skill. Accuracy is. Lower TTK makes a more competitive shooter. Higher TTK lowers skill gap. Halo had a low TTK and high (base) mobility meaning you had to retain accuracy while you and you're opponent were strafing at full mobility (old Bungie halos) In destiny ttw could kill consistently in half a second and thorn could two shot. Also, you lose mobility while aiming so you don't have to compensate for your own movement to retain accuracy. Destiny also has unreasonably high aim assist even for a console shooter. I attribute the loss of player base from vanilla destiny to now to the year one multiplayer. In short, it had a lower skill gap than cod. If you weren't one-shotting with supers/specials/other bullshit, then you were two shotting with a weapon with a half second TTK. It's the formula for a low skill gap. Turn it into a twitch shooter so accuracy barely matters (it can't when TTK's are .5 seconds or one shots) to allow poor shooter players to feel good about themselves and stay with the game. Activision's been doing it for years with cod and now bungie has sold out. Really there just needs to be a legendaries only no supers playlist where you don't start with special and a primary kills drops a special package on their body that grants a single special shot. ... But that would have a skill gap that most destiny players play destiny to avoid.

They all kill in less than a second... if you're good enough. You make it sound as if they needed less skill before.

1 RespuestaMy only problem with the meta then was just that auto rifles were useless, and hand cannons were the best weapons. If we could just rebuff the abilities and grenades and only slight rebuffs to weapons, crucible might be fun again

pls remove luck in the chamber

16 RespuestasThe Holy Trinity, Felwinters, Matador 64, Hopscotch Pilgrim, and 1 shot snipers body shot snipers. I'm glad that era is over. You couldn't even compete without using those guns.

hHAHAHAHAHAH NO

Editado por Synchronoize: 6/20/2016 6:17:55 AMAlso everybody wasn't playing like a little bitch and were. Actually contesting and having legit gunfights. Idc about the odd nade but when people literally just camp in every corner. Edit: + Please bungie add Connection based matchmaking please.

1 RespuestaEditado por cool beetle: 6/19/2016 3:00:27 PMIt was more fun, i'm not sure if it was better though. Thorn hawkmoon and TLW were kinda broken and all. But I really enjoyed the quick gameplay. So I agree with you. Mostly because I'm a hand-cannon user. (Maining a titan since launch) so no arcbolts or firebolts for me. But I did not find them as annoying as the firebolts in pre-june patch. Wish we could go back to the year 1 meta for 1 week XD just for fun, with connection-based matchmaking. That would make me super happy.

Editado por SnakePayne86: 6/20/2016 4:48:58 AMIt was fun. Nah, I was abusing arcbolt and luck raspberry all year one. Throw grenade, one shot with my prenerf hawkawesome. The good days.

I LIKED HOW BC THERE WAS SO MUCH TO DO

Guns and supers worked. They were fun.

Firebolt wasnt the issue. Touch of flame and Viking funeral was. Most people complained about firebolts because everyone one used them to apply the burn to people while staying out of harms way. Just the simple change they made to Viking funeral would have been enough for sunsingers. But bungie likes to overdo everything thing.

amen to that brotha

I always play slow, and I liked tdb meta way more than the meta now. I could use snipers and no one would complain about it. Most weapons were viable. It was great. You could use any subclass, and still do good. It was just more fun,

1 RespuestaYes, bring back the thorn/felwinters meta. That makes so much sense. Who wants diversity?

4 RespuestasHoW meta was awful. Go watch any YouTube video from that era and all you see is a green screen and TLW and shotguns. The crucible is the most balanced it has ever been minus the Hunter class being destroyed for my playstyle. You can use weapons from any class and any archetype, all specials are used decently, and there is a good mix of rockets and machine guns.
-
TDB meta was terrible. HOW was still bad, but better than TDB, TTK, or after the vex nerf.

It was awful
awfully fun
vanilla was the best for me

I agree, the year 2 metas are all shit. This team-shot meta is -blam!-ing stupid as hell, and it makes people run around in packs of 3-4 in 6v6 game modes where there isn't a fire team in sight. I miss the days where I could consistently win gun fights against 2-3 people due to higher gun skill.
