With the exception of the shot gun not having a mag, they are all magazine feed and semi automatic. "But, what about that scary looking Assault Rifle on the top left?" That my child is called an AR15 and it's not an assault rifle. By definition an assault rifle is "A magazine feed AUTOMATIC rifle designed for infantry use." But that Ar15 Is a semi automatic rifle chambered in 5.56 that just looks scary. To the right we have the Ruger Mini 14 Ranch Gun, also semi automatic and chambered in 5.56. That means they both can shoot the same round, but one just looks different. And second from the top we have the M1a EBR . The civilian model of the M14 EBR. The one on the left just looks scary compared to the M1a, it older brother. Both 7.62, semi automatic. You get what I'm saying here? The call to ban "assault type weapons" is impractical. That's not the answer. I know people are scared and they want the "scary black gun to go away," but I'm sorry to tell you there are others out there, identical in function but just have a different body and gas system. They are all going to put the same round down range as the scary ones, they all have the potential to hurt people. But it's not a gun problem, it's a heart and mind problem. And bad people will do bad things, and the good people will be better than them. We carry on, we recover and stay strong. We don't know when the next storm will strike, but we can be ready, vigilant, and prepared.
