They did this to increase the player pool. The number of players for Destiny have been declining so in order to pool the number of players into a larger group they dropped the PS3 and 360. Now the number of players for PS4 and X1 will slightly increase. They did not do it because of hardware space etc. The reason I gave is the true reason they dropped the old systems.

4 Respuestashmm. so by dropping players, they're actually gaining players? this is mind blowing. nice philosophy bro

6 RespuestasEver try to use a synth in battle on PS3? About 10 minutes to load up the screen.
-
Wake up before you fall off that cliff fffffffffff! Silliest excuse I have heard so imo you and the center of a black hole have something in common you're both DENSE
-
Spoken like someone who knows nothing about development. The last gen is being dropped as they would have to maintain 4 builds of Destiny. The effort to do that for 2 years alone is incredible. In addition last gen limitations pass to current generation too such as enemies on screen at once.
-
I was under the impression that it was because it was extra work and not worth their time and effort. Maybe I'm stupid?
-
Exactly what I was thinking, but your wording is poor. Basically, what OP is trying to say; The community was divided into 4 (PS3/PS4/X360/X1) When RoI drops, anyone still actively playing and doing pretty much any end game activities will only be divided into 2 (PS4/X1) Sure, there are still some on last gen, but they will come to current gen faster with an incentive to do so. It's better for Bungie to do it now, instead of waiting for Destiny 2. Last gen will feel cheated of their experience and like they didn't "finish the chapter" of Destiny 1.
-
So much dumb in this post. PSA Bungie does not dictate which consoles to support. That decision is Sony and microsofts. #TheMoreYouKnow

I play on last gen. But I think its good to only be on next gen. Last gen was holding current gen back But at least bring the year one exotics to year two and give us the old raids So we have something to do. Btw current gen be less mean to old gen. And stop saying" stop being poor" uou sound like trump if you say that

Have any proof?
-
No it isnt, you dont waste limited resources on obsolete platforms. Even if it is just a few people its not worth it.
-
Editado por tanis38: 6/13/2016 2:42:57 PMPretty sure the reason was a combination of resources (cost/personnel used to develop last gen versions compared to the number of last gen players) and the fact that, I don't know, it is 11+ year old technology that severely limits what they can do and still maintain uniformity between both versions.
-
No they will lose a small amount of players overall by dropping them.
-
I think that is part of it... I think a bigger part is the fact that both Sony and Microsoft are discontinuing support for the last gen consoles, so anything new introduced that causes problems with the old hardware would not be corrected. I also think the fact that older gen users no longer make up the majority had something to do with it.
-
They did it because, money... Why spend money and time developing a product for 10% of the customer base. You sell where your clients are
-
No they had planned all along to drop old Gen consoles in September 2016 with the release of Destiny 2. When they pushed it back to 2017 they still kept the 2016 old Gen console date. Sept 2016 is the start of current Gen only development.
-
Editado por HypobaricPiano: 6/13/2016 1:46:23 PMTo get more players they dropped 15% of them? I don't have a problem with the move away from old gen, I just think your reason is bogus.

It doesn't matter why, sadly (although it is mainly issues with limitations of old hardware). What matters is the community average age is 14-16, and it's hard to see logic when it affects you so negatively. This is the only console they have ever known, they haven't had to upgrade from original Nintendo to Super Nintendo to play Zelda, from PS to PS2 to play Mortal Kombat...they haven't been around long enough to be disappointed, and then suck it up and work for it (I'm guessing summer jobs are out of the question for the ones that have Mtn Dew for blood and never see the sun). There are also people from countries with poor economies that have trouble getting into any kind of console so there's not an easy way to upgrade for them (some South American countries just got access to the 360....for $3500+), but they are losing sight of the fact that the game won't simply stop working on the older consoles. There will be more time to upgrade and you can still play. The entitled children who can't find time in their busy schedule of pounding Monster and Flamin' hot Cheetos to find a summer job have zero of my support or sympathy. The skewed logic posts of the entitled are ultimately frightening because people really do think/feel that Bungie should not advance the game unless they can come, too. They feel that having given Bungie monetary support, they own all their future projects as well. If all new cars were electric and gas was no longer going to be a thing (like MS and Sony pulling platform support) would you expect Toyota to give you a Prius, or would you need to buy a new car? Lol, logic in forums.... wth am I doing?

1 RespuestaSaves money, and cuts out the limitation balancing act. But if roi and destiny 2 are not significantly better than whats out now then we just have lazy devs.
-
4 RespuestasHow does it increase player pool? If Urks write up about last gen having %10 of the player base, then the max is %10 upgrades from legacy to current gen Some of these %10 will not upgrade either way(cost,boycotts,stubborn...etc), so it may be more like 6-7% upgrade and rest stay back or just play other games Again...no increase in numbers Blizzard did the same with RoS for Diablo 3, here's your RoS but no more support and last gen did not even get the full update and this was 2 years back when last gen was still kicking hard No, I think this is a case of what's better overall and its time for devs to stop producing anything last gen and make Current Gen great before it's too late, 3 years in and most "big" games are remakes/remasters

4 RespuestasThis was not an issue when I completed God of War 2 on PS2 and they released God of War 3 on the PS3. Why is this an issue now??!!!
-
5 RespuestasWell they're releasing a new Xbox next year so...
-
6 RespuestasNo mate, that's idiotic. Why would they sacrifice their own profits for a better experience for consumers? That's just not bungos style anymore. I think the real reason they have done this is down to Microsoft and Sony because they are the only ones who benefit. Bungo actually lose out. There is no 'hardware' issues, it's the same game. Therefore bungo will lose profits because 360 and ps3 players aren't purchasing as much dlc. Only Microsoft and Sony win by increasing console purchases. Maybe bungo got a pay out, and if they did there's no hope for this dlc because they've already profited again, even before the desticles pre order.

Uhm lololol satire?

Less time porting content more, work they can get done. with how slow they say their engine is to work with, I think it's more of a decision to be able to produce better more quality content. not having to wait for it to port out for 4 different consoles can save a lot of time and get more and or better content out in less time than they've been able to before.
I gave up on punctuation goodnight
I m quite sure most of the programming will remain unchanged. It's not a new game, just new contents. It s just that the costs of writing for 360 May mot have been worth the player base. And y 3 was supposed to be starting with destiny 2, and be new gen only. In the end it's a hybrid decision that leaves bitterness in old gen because destiny 1 was meant to be both, and when they initially talked about 'an expansion later this year', they never mentioned new gen only up til now. It's understandable, but it's again poor comm.
