Strict gun legislation and not a single mass shooting in Australia for over 20 years.
Can the citizens of the US please explain to the world again how all those guns make them safer?

4 RespuestasWhat about your home invasion and other crime rates? Those have skyrocketed. Maybe you don't have crazy ass people down under, but you've still got your problems. Don't act like your better than us because you willingly gave up your own security when your government swore up and down you'd all be safe.

20 RespuestasAs much as I agree it worked here in Australia, I don't know if it would work the same in America. I don't think assault rifles should be sold to people all willy nilly but the way their police force is becoming more militarised I can also see why people would want to arm themselves. It's far fetched but what would us Australians do if the government decided to enforce some bs on us? Throw rocks at them?

1 Respuesta#1 cause of death from ages 15-44. Australia is so awesome you all kill your selves. And you guys are all just living in an English mass prison. By the way.

Wouldn't work in America because they're too used to their guns now. It's like trying to take an iPhone off a teenager. It's not going to work.

15 RespuestasIv never heard any terrorist groups truly target Australia. But America is a bullseye for them. You hear all the time about all these mass shooting in the U.S. but u never EVER hear about the times guns have saved the day. Not to mention, CRIMINALS DONT JUST USE GUNS. There are enough chemicals at your local lowes to blow the white house to smitherines.

36 RespuestasEditado por Gwynifear: 6/16/2016 1:43:36 AMI mean, the problem is we don't have a gun problem but rather a mental health and poverty problem. Both mental diseases and poverty affect roughly 20% of Americans. Most people who buy firearms and maliciously harm others are either disenfranchised deranged lunatics or individuals who use them to acquire items they can't obtain legally. You have to understand there are over 320,000,000 Americans, over 100,000,000 individuals own firearms, there are over 270,000,000 guns in the U.S. On average 30,000 people die from firearms each year. Of that 30,000, 22,000 commit suicide, while the other 8,000 die from firearms that can be attributed to either mental health, poverty or accidents. 8,000 to 320,000,000 is about 0.06% Over 99.9% of people who buy firearms are obtaining them legally and using them responsibly without harming others. If we actually had a problem with guns, the death rate would be over 1% or roughly 3,200,000 Americans dead. Literally over 99.9% of our entire populations is unaffected. These bandaid regulations won't solve anything, we need to fix the actual problems. Gun control is a collective punishment for malicious activity committed by less than 0.5% of gun owners. Those with the intent to harm others will find a way to do so no matter what legislation you put In their way. Most individuals don't own Assault Rifle, but I do think they have a right to own them and those who purchase them in most cases, have them to protect themselves, their loved ones and their property. In most cases, individuals don't use them, but they have them in case they need them. For example, if the dollar collapsed tomorrow, individuals who own guns will be able to protect themselves, their loved ones and their property from potentially looters or others who seek to harm them. Individuals who use firearms maliciously are like death eaters in Harry Potter, everyone knows what they're doing is evil and illegal, but you don't see wizards being collectively punished for the actions of a very small group. By the power of the constitution of the United States of America, Every American citizen is entitled to their right to life, liberty and property, unless they harm others. We can't allow fear and emotion cloud our judgement, we must always think logically.

1 RespuestaI honestly agree with the strict legislation passed by Australia. We need more of that here in America. Sure, you can't get rid of guns completely, but I cannot think of one good reason why someone needs an assault rifle. There isn't one, bottom line. It needs to be more difficult to obtain firearms. People will always kill one another, that's a fact. But it needs to be more difficult to do so, especially with firearms.

The reason you guys have strict gun laws, is because you don't want the abos getting them. In America, our "abos" already have them...

1 RespuestaWe use guns for hunting around here. no one murders everyone, its just in the big cities this happens. all the rural areas get no shooting. we also all own guns
