So, just surfing through the forums, as I normally do after Destiny gets a big announcement of some kind, and lo and behold, the community has somehow developed a master race syndrome. Probably another word for it, but since I don't care to look it up, I figured I am going to ask a the simple question of why everybody thinks that everyone can afford a new console, much less repurchasing the game ( of which I myself have already spent $200 dollars on ($70 at retail, $40 for the Season Pass, TTK was another $40, plus $50 in Silver to show my support for this game)), why it is you feel that another generation of consoles is holding a game back (when in actuality, it is the limitations of what they can add into the game from what already exists), and why it is you treat your fellow Guardians so poorly for not being able to afford the latest and greatest gear?
Now, I do have a PS3, and will at some point buy a PS4. No problems there. But here is the problem: Destiny is an FPSRPGMMO as stated by Bungie at launch. Many of us know that isn't really the case, but if the are going to uphold that, why cut DLC for essentially the same thing? We paid for a game and it's support, we played this long, so why ditch us at the end of it all? Yes, we MAY get different support, or still be allowed to play the game while the servers are active. But for a general rule of thumb: MMOs are supposed to be playable with all support until the end. I should not feel like I need to buy a new "computer" to keep playing the same game. And since there is going to be a sequel (as confirmed by way too many sources), why cut us out when we know it was going to happen?
On another note, this DLC does look pretty sick, and would be fun to play regardless. It is just a shame that the drop had to happen at a time when Destiny started to show what it could truly do. And as a Guardian of 23 years who started out not even being able to afford the game at launch, works a $11.50/hour job for 40 hours a week, and pays most of it to bills and to keep a food in his stomach, I really wish I could join on this adventure. And before people say," Oh, you could have been saving up.", guess what? Living in Vancouver BC right now requires the living wage to be $27/hour. I wish I could save, but unfortunately for all the Europeans, and kids who live with their parents, buying shit here is quite difficult.
...yeah, I think that sums up my rant. Feel better now. Feel free to pitch in anybody.

1 RespuestaI don't know how to say this without sounding belligerent, but as a business, Bungievision doesn't care about the time you put into their game, only the money. If Destiny 2 was current gen only, I'd understand, time to move on and all. But making this new dlc current gen only is a dick move. The fact that they're manipulating preorders by capitalizing off Gally elitism is very skeevy to me, just leave it behind.

Honestly, your post was too long and I stopped reading shortly after the first paragraph. Nothing against you, I've gone on rants in forums before, more so about me being lazy/only having a limited time on break from work. Alas, the negativity is going both ways. A LOT of people playing on "Legacy" consoles are being negative and plain sh¡tty about this situation too. I understand that it absolutely sucks that people put all this effort into their game on the old console and now they are being forced to a screeching halt. However, the XB360 and PS3 are what? Twelve years old now? Their hardware and capabilities is limited and that's all there is to it. While you want to refute this, it has been said before that they are limited in options because they have to cater to past gen. All in all, if Bungie comes out with Rise of Iron and there ISN'T something groundbreaking that resulted from them dropping last gen, then believe me when I say that all the current gen owners will be just as upset. It isn't that we want you to be left behind, we just want our game to be better overall, if that means cutting the weak link and harnessing higher processing power, we are all for it. As a current gen gamer, I am deeply sorry that you people are casualties, but that's just how things go.

4 RespuestasOk then. Dont buy it and continue to play destiny like you always have. Nothing is being taken from you.

1 RespuestaHere we go again. This is a link to the article where Bungie explains their reasons for dropping "legacy consoles". You could've googled this before making a wall of text. https://www.vg247.com/2016/06/10/why-destiny-rise-of-iron-isnt-coming-to-ps3-and-xbox-360/

One demonstration of why the 360 is holding back the game is the 360 emulation on the xb1. It is essentially a 360 running as software and you can hardly tell the difference from it versus a physical 360. That tells me there's a lot of untapped ability on an xb1 that we are not getting because the Destiny experience needs to be the same on all consoles.
-
My question: you've known that Destiny was going to eventually leave last gen behind, why didn't you start preparing then?
-
3 RespuestasI don't see any "master race" attitude. I do see a lot of people wondering why last gen console owner seem to think all progress should come to a halt, when that has never happened in the industry before. There always comes a point when older technology is left behind. The same people who own PS3 and Xbox 360 also own Blu-ray players. They got rid of their VHS machines because the industry moved on. Most people got rid of their pagers when cell phones came along. It's been happening for years and there is always a warning.

1 RespuestaThis was a community? HA! Now THAT is some good satire. High five.
-
When has this community not been dominated by a steaming salt crusted cesspool of internet trolls and keyboard warriors?
-
They just need to do what gta 5 did. The older consoles did hold back first person mode and so they released the biggest gta 5 update 2 years after release for only new gen. But they allowed everyone 1 chance to bring their old characters and stats over to the new consoles.
-
Take m yup doot you hero.
-
Lol you expected the community to agree with anything bungie does. Since when has third community ever done that. Only few of us actually support the great game they made.
-
2 RespuestasNot meaning any offense but maybe bungie is showing us what they can really do bc they dropped last gen. I feel for the last gen community but how many games are still releasing content for them?
-
1st off, upgrading is not a lot of money so people shouldn't be talking about the money, it's not the reason why most people haven't upgraded yet and if it is, sell your console since you should be doing more productive things but, I agree with the last Gen console owners, this was a dick move by bungie, they couldve let old Gen ride out the remainder of destiny 1

2 RespuestasThank you. Literally thank you. And the phrase you're looking for is superiority complex. You are a voice for the downtrodden.
-
2 RespuestasAre you just now realizing this community is full of dickheads? Or did you just want to vent?

2 RespuestasPeople are only thinking about themselfes these days and love to kick someone else to the ground, thinking they are better then the other and really enjoy letting those know. But i can fully understand you. Why? Because if i was in your situation i would be pissed too. You have 3 months now to buy the new console, but thats just the start. 1: you have to buy the game that you have right now for old-gen Again. Not Destiny 2 or any other game, no the exact same game. 2: you have to buy the expansions again. And you already know whats coming, the same expansions that you have bought and played on your old-gen console. Yeah i know there will be bundles and stuff to save some money, but its complete BS in my opinion. They shouldnt drop old-gen while Destiny 1 is still rolling. Its not there fault that there still hasnt been a Destiny 2 or new disked release. Why should those be punished now? For the record, im not in this boat. I got current gen console and play Destiny on that. Still i think its complete BS the way this is handled.

Companies move on as the industry advances. Why would Bungie limit themselves to older consoles and lower framerates and overall less features when other companies can appease their fans so much easier and make much more appealing games. Its not about Bungie leaving people behind. Its about the industry advancing. And now its time to move on. Yes it may be hard for people to save and stuff. But life comes first. This is just entertainment.

5 RespuestasEditado por IceIllex: 6/10/2016 5:54:43 PMThe reason people don't care about last gen players is because they are complaining that they can't use their 10 year old technology for MODERN gaming. Bungie has been stuggling with memory space issues on the older gens for a year now and dropping them at the start of year 3 will help them solve those issues. Last gen players have had 3 years to upgrade to current gen, and most say they plan to upgrade for destiny 2. Well you they planned to upgrade for destiny 2, it isn't a big deal to upgrade a couple months early and do it for Rise of Iron. Bungie doesn't want to cut out last gen players for fun or a sick joke. They're fm doing it for Destiny to be the best it can be. Bungie gave you a 3 month notice to start saving for your new console. Kids should save up chore money or get a babysitting job or paper route (or parents can pay). Teens can get jobs. I'm a college student paying my way through and I can afford it. And adults have a lot more to pay for but a good job and good money management can help too. It basically comes down to each individual's priorities and whether the game the play is worth the upgrade that most were playing to do anyway

Editado por Antekpec: 6/10/2016 7:58:56 PMYeah it sucks for last gen, but destiny needs to be pushed to its limits to get the best out of it. You cannot hold back technology just because 15% can't keep up that would be crazy. When you do finally upgrade and you see where destiny has gotten to without limitations hopefully you can see why this had to happen. I also live in vancouver and understand your position, but unfortunately it's irrelevant to the bigger picture here.

The drop may be due to the next dlc being a beta for D2.

1 Respuestalegacy console can play it till the end!! why do people not understand this? Bungie and Activision have and to a certain extent will continue to support legacy console users through ALL end game they have PAID for. no where did it state the would support them for the full 10 year journey and those who thought they would are both lazy and stupid. the stark truth is, legacy users have been supported to the end and unfortunately it ends with TTK. The option for people now is to stop bitching about it and move forward with the game or stop bitching about it and become resigned to the fact that if you stay on legacy this is the end of your journey. either way... stop bitching about it

Editado por Ersatz_Lord: 6/10/2016 7:53:02 PMThis issue I've been seeing a lot of lately is a lot self entitled brats who choose not to listen and comprehend the official details (past or present.) People who feel products should be free or exclusive to them only. These individuals feel as if their opinion will sway developers - they won't. Too many people want to hear them self talk about arbitrary quibbles rather thsn acknowledge the facts.

1 RespuestaFrankly I'd be grateful you got to play last gen the past two years. Destiny easily and probably should have been a next gen title from the start. Been gaming since Atari 2600. It's the nature of the beast.

Priorities. If you're a gamer and a Destiny fan you knew this day would come. Those who planned will move along with current generation, those who didn't, we'll you will be left behind. That's just how it is with every new console. The fact that anyone on last generation consoles is either surprised or upset about this boggles the mind! Instead of complaining go out and earn extra money. Get an education, do some odd jobs, heck, sell your old games and consoles. What you should not do is complain, because you saw the writing on the wall. Bungie, or this community owe you nothing. If anything you're holding next gen back.
