Yeah. I fear for my daughter's education. She's almost 2 years old, and I already dread the things she's going to bring home as homework.

Just homeschool or send her to private schooling. Better off and safer that way.
-
Secular Private Schooling it is.
-
What I dread is that your daughter's generation will be running things in a couple decades and I will be at their mercy (old retired fart). The uneducated bunch i.e. common core will far outnumber the ones that actually got a decent education in the US. I have nightmares about it. I already can't sleep tonight now I have this running through my head.

I hope this trend of entitlement running rampant comes to an end relatively soon. Participation medals and things like them that take the focus off of being the best train these kids to expect rewards just for showing up. It is a scary thought that they will one day be in charge. I'm 28, and I see so many parents in my generation making these mistakes with their kids.. Treating them like they're the greatest thing to ever happen to our species, raising them with minimal discipline, and trying to be more of a friend than a parent. My daughter may dislike it, but I will never take the focus off guiding her to be the best, most successful adult she can be.

Home school her for god's sake.
-
No way lol. I don't have nearly enough patience for that. There are good private schools in the area. They're expensive, but it will be worth it. It's sad that a public school education is a major liability in 2016. The last thing I need is for some crackpot "science" teacher to design a syllabus around creation, and to subsequently teach it as fact. They get away with it all the time here in Florida.
-
Private schools are generally the ones who teach more creationism. That's why they're private to begin with, really. And this generation is full of bright young people who outshine many past generation tenfold. The only problem is that we've been brought into a broken economy. You can't say it isn't true, renowned economists agree with that. Although I do agree with the sense of entitlement. But you can't blame us for that, you can only blame the ones who brought us up and the ones we were surrounded by.
-
There are secular private schools in the Miami area. I mean, I attended a Catholic HS and my science teachers never made one mention of creation as literal fact, but I would never send her to one because of the obvious focus on theology (outside of science class).
-
Yeah, it definitely varies from state to state. It's as religious as it can get in Texas haha
-
I have family that lives in East Texas. It makes me sick to hear some of the things they've learned in school.
-
Yeah, if only public education was done better haha. Anyway, very clever joke haha
And this generation is full of bright young people who outshine many past generation tenfold.
Learn to sentence before talking about outshining anything.
-
Lol, nobody can create a perfectly constructed sentence every time they write, and that's not an exaggeration. Also, I'm not an English major nor do I care to write in general. You obviously don't know how intelligence is measured
-
Well do that then I sent my kid to private school and it was worth it. If you can scrape the patience together each day homeschooling is something that would go a long way.
-
I attended a private High School after going public all the way from Kindergarten through 8th grade. I'm very thankful my parents cared about my future, and not how I perceived them.
-
I went to public when they actually taught you how to read and write, real mathematics, history without agendas ect.
