Another great summer day comes to an end. I did the raid today with my fledgling year 2 hunter. Got him up to 320 without my nightstalker. Thank you to my awesome fire team for bearing with me, you guys rock! . Key moments in the raid are always the best: when you start sisters, praying you dont get torn. And later, when Oryx teleports you into the shade. Both moments throw you against your will into a forced illusion. Being torn or forced into the shade reminds me how much illusion can be part of daily life, down to basic observation. Its a fact of life, and I think Bungie does a great job of capturing it.
One obvious example from real life comes to mind: the illusion of a curved horizon. Look at the picture above. You may not believe it, but both those lines are perfectly straight and very much parallel. This illusion is a big reason why the round earth myth has gained acceptance in society; people rightfully followed their intuitive observations of the horizon, but to wrong conclusions. Dont forget that your eye is a lens that can be distorted, just like a camera. When you look at this picture of the horizon you know it was produced by a camera. Of course the world is not "tilted"! But it goes to show how lenses can play tricks on what we think we see. The world is flat, but the horizon sometimes appears curved. 'This is nothing more than the consequence of seeing the world through eyes: two small yet amazing lens.

Just like all planes that travel to the Antarctic have no Windows only the cockpit does. and I'm not talking about a trip to one of the islands either. The Antarctic is off limits cause that's where the earth stops.
