If you equip all 335 gear except what you want then put everything else in your inventory into the vault it will give you the type of gear you want. For example I equipped a 296 primary with everything else at 335 and put [b][u]all of my unequipped gear into the vault[/u][/b] then turned in a vanguard package and got a devil you know. Then I equipped 305 arms with everything else at 335 put my other gear in the vault turned in an FWC package and got arms. Smart loot scans everything on your character and decides based on that so equip a low level of whatever you want, high gear for everything else, and [u]put your spare gear in the vault.[/u] Let me know if this works for you, I'm 2 for 2 so far. [b]Edit:[/b] when I say put everything in the vault I mean everything. All weapons and armor that isn't equipped put in the vault. [b]Edit 2:[/b] I didn't post this to say it's confirmed, I posted it to say in my limited testing it has worked, and to try to recruit other people to try it so "I" can test it a lot quicker. It's been made clear that the method doesn't work in the long run. Still worth a shot though, you've got nothin to lose. [b]Edit 3:[/b] the only reason I think this could/does work is because you can't say it's 100% RNG when Bungie has outright told us there is a "smart loot" system. Sure that may only be for light level or whatever but that means that there is something in the code that manipulates rng. It isn't 100%. Plus, I've never believed that. Remember when that guy predicted xur and found his inventory for like a couple months or something? Yeah, nice rng there. Then Bungie went in and changed it and altered him. Anyways, all you people saying "it's just rng you're a tard," you're entitled to your opinion, but I don't believe it's 100% rng. [b]Edit 4:[/b] it seems like a lot of you are somehow missing the part of putting your other gear in the vault. I know the "lower your light on that one piece" theory was debunked a long time ago. But that didn't involve the vault. Put your stuff in the vault and try again. Ranked up crucible and new monarchy but didn't get what I was going for, I'm 2 for 4 now. However, I was able to get a special when going for a primary and legs when going for a helmet. Probably just a coincidence but I'm interested to see if it'll give you a weapon when one of your weapons is low or the same for armor. If that's the case I'll take a weapon over armor (a class item) any day.
